If you read and follow the principles in this book you will make enough money on your trades to pay for this book many times over. I have been active in the market for years (Averaging <20% return a year) and I agree with this author completely having lived out the greed, fear, and mistakes he talks about.Read this book and save yourself a lot of unnecessary losses.

5-0 out of 5 stars A 'must have' for all leaders.
If you take your job as a business leader seriously, this book is a 'must have'. As a business coach I use it in my practice with great success. For leaders (and managers who think they are leaders) and their teams it's an eye-opener. It gives insight in what it takes to turn a good team into a great team, and what great leadership is all about. If you want to be more effective as a leader and take your team to the highest level of readiness, read this book. It will change your life....and of those you lead.

2-0 out of 5 stars Management of Organizational Behavior
Not too bad as these books go but a tremendous amount of verbiage explaining the obvious. Excellent example of turning simple concepts in complex charts and definitions. I would imagine that people in the field love this hyperbole but it's BS to me and pretty much a waste of time to drudge though all of it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Just what we needed!
This book hits the "heart" of what many managers miss in planning change initiatives. This helps us remember that change isn't all number and business decisions. It's the people.I was able to immediately apply some of the ideas and resteered a change initiative successfully. Now all of my supervisors are reading and learning.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fundamentals for helping an organization undergo change successfully
This book is the textbook for how an organization can successfully lead with change.I have used the 8-step method with various organizations and successfully 'seen-felt-changed' for the better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Change Management Book I've Read to Date
I'm now in a "Change Management" role with my work, and decided to read some texts on the subject to further my understanding of the topic.Of those books that I've read, this one has clearly been the most helpful.Kotter articulates the steps of change in a way that connected with me, and made it real with a number of relevant examples. It's not onerous to read (<200 pages) but equally isn't "lightweight."While I would never recommend reading only a single book on the topic,I would definitely recommend that this be one of the books you read!

3-0 out of 5 stars Handy, not new.
As a trainer, speaker and coach on the topic of building your business by referral, I have read and own most books written on the topics of networking, virtual networking, working a room, and connecting so of course I had to have this one!
5-0 out of 5 stars Book Builds Budding Banter (or the right way of networking)
I never considered myself a sales person. Yes, I've heard all the talk that we do sell ourselves every day from what we do on the job to meeting people to the offering of Girl Scout cookies every year at the office. But I never really imagined my being able to just go up to folks and getting to know them first.
5-0 out of 5 stars Right On!
As in all of Gitomer's books, they're simple but not simple minded. It is simply about understanding, cultivating and appreciating a connection.Be genuine, and don't short change those who you immediately don't see can "do something" for you. Give first and give again.Love his insights on nonprofits and trade orgs-- he shows where most fail, they join and wait for the networking to begin. You must participate, and I'm a big believer in participation should be at the board level. From years of various board positions, that is where the movers and shakers are. You'll appreciate his great personal life examples. You'll understand what it means to "walk your talk".This is one of the best books on networking.I'm buying several copies for clients and friends. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars 2004 Writers Notes Book Award Winner
The Restaurant Manager's Handbook is a no-nonsense, coverall manual for the food establishment industry. It's the essence of a successful handbook-no jokes, parables, and preachy lectures, just the facts. If you delve into the heal-thy index for fault, you'll abruptly bump into a page number for an answer, and if you're currently running a restaurant and afraid to appear inadequate, you can load the handy CD-ROM and pretend you're checking your e-mail while figur-ing out the monthly audit procedures or why the beer is flat. I'm not kidding. The next time your favorite kitchen runs short of the daily special or closes down for a lack of permit, serve them a copy of this great reference book.

1-0 out of 5 stars Large Print and Weak Content
I recieved this book anxiously, but soon became quickly disappointed with its extreme lack of content. It could have just as easily been published in 30 pages of novel sized text, because that's about all that's contained between it's large vinyl bound covers. There are less expensive books that tell you just as little as this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Creating relationships instead of schmoozing
I found this book quite inspirational. Although I love spending time with people talking and getting to know them better, I've always been leery of the concept of "networking." It brings to mind a picture of an insincere jerk working the room, brown-nosing the people who can help him get ahead and ignoring everyone else.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book. Great Ideas.
Keith Ferrazzi obviously understands the importance of career karma. He practices what he preaches and provides countless examples of ways to be an effective networker, build your personal brand, and expand your success. This book helps destroy many networking myths and teaches us that the one important rule in networking is to 'give' to the members of your network. Keith has built his own personal brand on his unique and innate relationship-building skills and he shares with us so many different ways to network, that every reader will be able to find the ones that are authentic for them.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Relationship Approach
I was in the middle of reading Keith's book and took it with me on a recent cruise vacation.I recognized the same book being read by a fellow traveler and introduced myself. We chatted about the book and our businesses and exchanged business cards. The presence of the book itself was the perfect introduction to our conversation!Fun, fabulous, and completely natural is how I would describe Keith Ferrazzi's approach to building a network as wide (and deep) as you want. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a book on economics that even I can understand!
This is the book I have been looking for!I sure wish I'd found this book let's say five years ago or maybe $5,000 ago (lol)! Now I'm a big dummie, especially when it comes to economics, but I plan to make millions in the near future by gaining some kind of angle or secret.Mr CR McConnell breaks down all those confusing economic things that have stood between and my dreams of understanding just how money works for years. I recomend this book for anyone that wants to help themselves out economically and plans to help other people out with their money too.Look for me on the cover of Fortune Magazine!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Macroeconomics Text Available
As far as I'm concerned, McConnell's "Economics" is the most thorough and well-structured macroeconomics text available. The examples are smart and clear, and the information fresh and updated, unlike other texts in this area of study. My vote: 5 stars.
4-0 out of 5 stars Close but no cigar.
McConnell and Brue do a B+ job in this book. However,it does not equal Samuelson's introductory textbookin economics in explanatory power in a number of areas. In this review I will concentrate on just one point of comparison concerning the paradox of thrift.McConnell and Brue effectively discuss this paradox at the macro economic level using the short run aggregate supply curve's three ranges-the horizontal Keynesian range, the upward sloping synthesis range and the Classical-Neoclassical vertical range. If the economy is operating in the Keynesian range or the lower part of the synthesis range, then McConnell and Brue correctly show that more current savings will lead to less future savings due to a decrease in investment and a reverse multiplier effect reducing spending. On the other hand, they correctly show that if the economy is operating in the vertical range, more savings will reduce inflationary pressures while making it possible for investment to increase IF(and only if)businessmen have correct expectations about the future.Samuelson also goes through this analysis. However, Samuelson goes one step further. Samuelson first discusses the linkage at the microeconomic level between the paradox of thrift and its microfoundations in the Production Possibilities Curve(PPF).Essentially, if the economy is operating inside the frontier(on the horizontal Keynesian range or upward sloping portion of the synthesis range),then more savings is detrimental and moves the economy deeper into the interior of the PPF.On the other hand,if the ecomomy is operating on the boundary of the PPF,then more savings can potentially be transformed into more investment, assuming that businessmen, operating in the private sector, have correct expectations about the future.Samuelson demonstrates that in the interior the micro optimality conditions break down and are not operational.McConnell and Brue do not cover this in their textbook. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Invaluable quick read
I love books that are quick reads and this one was a definite good buy.I would suggest anyone that's looking for a quick investment-based, principled book to buy this as well as a book called Investing Without Losing. These two books are a great quick read for those daily train commute or plane ride.(In my case, both.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo
Concise enough that it can be read on an airplane journey, the book offers a lifetime of lessons from one of the masters.I found the writing to be insightful and entertaining w/the wittiness of the author as he explains the principles of outperformance.Certainly a book I will return to often for ideas and guidance regarding my investments.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great read now, an even better reference for the future
There are a lot of best selling "value investing for dummies" type books out there these days, but most of them recycle the same old cliches while underestimating the reader's ability to comprehend complicated investing approaches. The Little Book of Value investing does neither. It is professionally written by someone who'se been in the game a long time and is willing to share important lessons without dumbing them down too much. I thoroughly enjoyed my first read of this book and find myself regularly flipping through it to generate new investment ideas. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The rich are different from the rest of us, if for no other reason than U.S. tax and securities laws allow them to invest in ways that keep us from catching up to them. That's why 90 percent of all corporate shares of stock are owned by 10 percent of the people. Kiyosaki believes it's possible for anyone to move up into that 10 percent, but it takes a different view of investing than most people have: it takes a plan to be a successful investor. And a plan is more than simply buying and selling, or collecting "assets" that bring in no cash and are thus more akin to liabilities. The way most people invest, "they might as well be pushing a wheelbarrow in a circle," he writes. A plan is "mechanical, automatic, and boring," a formula for success that has worked historically for most of those who've used it. Kiyosaki's "rich dad" (actually, the father of his best friend) tells him the simplest analogy is the game Monopoly: buy four green houses, trade them for one red hotel, and repeat until you become rich.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Kiyosaki - Does it Again!
Kiyosaki's third book in his Rich Dad, Poor Dad series delivers again. This book is a logical progression of RDPD and CFQ building on his principals of building wealth for the first half of the book.Afterwards, Kiyosaki unveals what the reader has been waiting for . . . just how the rich invest. He disclaims the book plainly for the reader looking for the next hot stock tip or get rich quick scheme. The book delivers on it's title from a principal information standpoint, which should suit readers that realize that wealth is built up over time and based upon timeless principals and a strong foundation. The last two phases of the book are extremely well-written.Kiyosaki covers financial ratios, IPO offerings, taking companies public, and of course real estate principals. He presents his information to get you thinking not to give you answers for he knows the answers will come if the action is initiated.Another aspect of Kiyosaki that I particularly like is that he discusses his failures, which should let the masses know that riches are often found after many failures (more often it is the norm). So if you want easy answers - don't buy this book.If you want principals, ingredients for success in building wealth, and systematic structure on what you should be thinking in acquiring and KEEPING your wealth - this is your book!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of my most picked up books!
I have read this book and keep this as a reference when referring to my questions on money and finance. This book is a definite read and its definitly the type of books that you read several times for reasons of referring back to the ideals of money. 5-0 out of 5 stars great book
I bought the book for a class but I highly reccommend it to anyone aspiring to be a leader in their given profession.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good motivational book
Leadership is to be an active process that gathers people to participate in a common vision.Leaders are to set a good example, take risks, encourage others, and never quit.Although the authors present their book as a new approach to leadership, they share nothing that is original. For instance, under "Model the Way," leaders are encouraged to follow the Biblical principle of Matthew 5:37- "But let your 'Yes' be 'Yes,' and your 'No,' 'No'" (NKJV), and of Ephesians 4:29- "Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them (NLT)."In "Encourage the Heart," the authors appear to utilize B.F. Skinner's "operant conditioning" theory by suggesting leaders to provide rewards and congratulate people for work-related achievements."Enable Others to Act" is built on the principle of teamwork as found in 1 Corinthians 12:12-27- "The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up only one body... each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it" (NLT).From a secular standpoint, the book offers good insight; however, from a Biblical leadership model, it falls short in certain areas. For example, the best leader to model is the one who models Christ- "Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ" (1 Cor. 11:1 NKJV), while the attitude of a leader should be: "Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men" (NASB).Leadership should never be taken lightly, in fact the Bible says, "Let not many of you become teachers, knowing that we shall receive a stricter judgment" (James 3:1). The real challenge for leaders is to exhibit Christ-likeness in the workplace by achieving success without succumbing to greed and resisting the temptation for power and prestige, while gathering workers to work as "one body." ... 2-0 out of 5 stars The IBC more than just another building code
The IBC is the long-time-coming consolidation of the three major building codes in the US and there is nothing "international" about it.Back in the 70's the 3 code organizations formed BOCA and put out a 1 & 2 family dwelling code. The 3 members them gradually made changes to the individual building codes that brought them into similar formats, then they combined them into one code in 2000, the IBC, and modified the dwelling code to be the IRC (Int. Residential Code)and changed the organization's name to the ICC, the Int. Code Council. There little to review about the content since it is either the law in your area or it is not.For comparisons to previous codes and other information try the ICC's website http://www.iccsafe.org/

It is pretty difficult to review a specification that you must have.

5-0 out of 5 stars 49 states are now adopting this Code
Better learn this code.Local codes are being swept away by one standard. Here is Colorado each town had its own test, amendments and licensing system.California is the only state, having revamped its code 2 years ago, to keep its system.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique Approach
I finished "Entries & Exits" (Actually, I read it twice) and enjoyed it on so many levels. It was a great opportunity for insight into a diverse group of traders and I was especially struck by the unique blend of methods used by this group of successful traders. What is consistent is the commitment to personal growth, independent thinking, and seeing trading as a business with both fascinating and mundane aspects as with most businesses. The interviews with Sherry and Diane struck a chord as so few women make it into print in the trading literature.
4-0 out of 5 stars A great look at a diverse group of traders
In my opinion this is by far the best of Elder's three trading books. To really enjoy it, however, I believe you'd have to be at least somewhat familiar with Elder's trading style, and reading one of his earlier books would probably be a good precursor to exploring this one. This book consists of sixteen interviews of professional or aspiring to be professional traders. Some, like Gerald Appel (inventor of MACD) are very well known, and some are relative novices to the craft. But all are serious about their work. They have accounts of various sizes (from "small" of less than 250k to "large" of over 1m), come from all over the world, trade different markets, and have methods that range widely, though all are TA (technical analysis) based.I really have to give Dr. Elder credit for selecting such a wide range of trading styles and personalities-far too many to detail here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!!
I personally has been trading for the last 6 years and I have been using Elder first book " Trading for Living" as a basis of my trading trait. This book reconfirms what I had been learning so far and strategies on this book had further advance my techniques.

1-0 out of 5 stars Old stuffs in a new bottle--save your money
It seems to me that most of the stuffs covered in this book have already been covered several times in other books already in market. I challenge any reader to prove me wrong. That means anyone who can find that more than 10% of whatever this book says about leadership is by any means NEW. 10% is a low standard for a book aiming to help you "lead at high level". right?
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent compilation...
Not only does this book bring together years of research, but it also aggregates the minds of multiple leaders in the Blanchard organization. If you haven't read the other books coming out of the Ken Blanchard Companies, you'll definitely want to read this book. If you have read the others, this will be a great refresher and it provides a different format. As you know, many of the Blanchard books are in story format (aka parables) and now those story-based lessons are gathered into a more standard non-fiction book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Book Review
Good overview on what you need to consider before you start your own business.

3-0 out of 5 stars It's... OK.
The presentation of this book is excellent; It holds the reader's interest quite well. However, despite a recent "update", it shows it's age when the author regularly goes off on dot-com tangents, bringing the internet up in contexts that I believe the last few years have proven are not viable. Good grief, ppl. This isn't freaking 1997! We need a business text, not the wet dreams of a bunch of computer geeks turned businessmen! Anyways, if you are looking for a text with a lot of depth, look elsewhere. This book is to business textbooks what Quickbooks(c)(R)(TM) is to accounting software. In short, don't waste your money, unless you need it for a class. If so, be happy. If your prof teaches out of this, your tests will be very easy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good book for small businesses

5-0 out of 5 stars I've never read a more interactive book!
I have read a lot of books recently to increase my work knowledge, and I have to say that this book was the easiest and most fun to read. The writers have done an excellent job getting the reader involved, which increases the amount of information one is able to remember. This book is a real pionner in how to write educative books.Oh, yea, and the content was outstanding!

5-0 out of 5 stars Telling Aint Training
Great book!! Any body in the training field should get a copy. Herald Stolovitch and Erica Keeps keep the reader involved throughout the entire book with constant examples and activities that are very interesting and fun. I am in the US military and training is constant in my job. Techniques are drawn out and easy to understand, making it easy for anybody to comprehend and transfer to their own training. The use of the five step training model really sets up how a training session should be held. I will use this book over and over again in the development of my professional training career.

4-0 out of 5 stars Gets to the Heart of Training
Stolovitch gets to the heart of training--changing the behavior of the trainees. Whether you are giving a short speech or conducting a three day training session, Stolovitch shows how simply dumping facts (what everybody does) is never effective. This message can not be said enough. ... Read more
