Useful Professional Guide
The author's expertise in the subject matter becomes apparent when you read his lucid explanations of a subject matter that can be quite dry.He successfully intertwines historical events and human stories with the technical discussions of each section to keep the reader engaged and interested.Despite the breadth of the book it is clear that the author has spent considerable time researching the individual sections and has presented the material in a methodical and organized fashion.Thus it clearly serves as a useful professional guide and should be on every money manager's shelf.I especially enjoyed reading the beginning chapters which focus on the historical background and the arrangement of the global currency markets. Good Book -But The suporting data is hard to find
If you're a hedge fund manager I think might be the right book for you.There is a lot of information for the individual but it doesn't seem to come together in the end.The book makes many good points about the use of fundamental as well as technical analysis.But the fundamental data is mentioned but Sources are not included.I've spent to hours and hours trying to locate the data.

Good as a textbook, but bad as a trader's guide
As a professional trader who deals with the ups and downs of the FX market from Monday to Friday for years, particularly with the extreme volatility of USD from last October till now, I am obliged to comment that the book is of little practical/predictive use.Unless you really wanna study academic theories about FX like different kinds of exchange rate regime or exchange rate model (which seldom held themselves), or get reasons to hedge your exposure "completely" for your company's or your own investment portfolio, please give this book a pass.

Finally an option book to be proud of
Mr. Walker is clear and concise in his depiction of how the options markets work. He details various strategies and makes options investing understandable to those new to it. An excellent Book

Hinkle and Montiel have written a very good book.The book is very comprehensive and detailed.Understanding exchange rate issues is not an easy task, but dealing with exchange rate issues in developing countries ismore daunting.In this connection, the authors do a very good job intrying to explain the various concepts of exchange rate misalignment inthese emerging countries.One particular important aspect of the book isthat it lays before the reader the various methodological approaches tomeasuring exchange rate misalignment in developing countries, and thusmakes it easier for the reader to compare the relative merits and demeritsof each methodology.In this wise, the reader is saved the trouble andtime of having to glean through a slew of literature (very large indeed) inthis subject area.The books thus becomes a mini-library of exchange raterelated issues in developing countries.
