What many people are looking for is a detailed and readable description of how to apply the latest mathematical methods to solving the problems appearing in day-to-day work of derivatives desks. A good dissertation may be, but not a good trading book for sure
If you are interested in the result of a survey done through over 300 FX traders in 5 countries or over 200 bibliographies for your own thesis, you will be absolutely delighted. If you want to sharpen your trading edge or simply to have fun (like what Fiasco, Pit Bull, Liar's Poker and Wall Street Meat do), you will be very disappointed.
A Must Read for Any Trader or Investor
This book is valuable to any person trading any market.It enforces the thought that you bring yourself to the market, be it currencies, futures, stocks, or bonds.A person is the product of their environment, culture, parents, education and experiences which influences their perception of the markets.It is very difficult to observe what the market is doing without observing what it is doing to you.All markets are a mind game.

Thorough and well-written with step-by-step instructions
No single book on investing will provide you with all the knowledge you will need to be comfortable investing, but Colin Alexander's book comes as close as any.The book starts with the basics, and assumes no prior knowledge or experience with trading.It explains, in detail, the major charting patterns and technical indicators, and provides an algorithm for when to buy and sell.Having read over a dozen books in the field, I find that his suggestions are in-line with the prevailing philosophy of most traders.If you have yet to read a book on technical analysis or swing trading, I would highly recommend to start with this book.If you are already an intermediate trader trying to elevate your technical skills, you may find this work too rudimentary.All in all, this is an outstanding work that is clearly written and easy to implement.

When I picked up this book, I expected something similar to the book All About Market Timing, which overall I thouht was a good book. However, I got something very different in this book. This book consists of an introduction to a handful of indicators, such as on balance volume, the macd, moving averages, stochastics, and some subjective price patterns. Outstanding
Thisbook is a tremendous gift to future generations and should be the basis of a mandatory course for everyone in highschool. If it were already, many of my friends and acquaintances would not have lost their fortunes in the last 3 years' bear market. Read more

In this must-have reference book for the economic historian, McCusker compiles an impressive amount of information on the major European currencies, units of account and relative values, and presents it a clear and straightforward fashion. Conversion tables, market values and stock exchange quotes make it extremely easy to obtain the information as needed. If a number or a series is all you want, you can go in and out of this book in seconds, taking with you everything you need. In my personal experience, I managed to convert prices in florins per Dutch pound to pence per British pound between 1690 and 1720 in a matter of minutes (and it involves six different weight, monetary and accounting conversions!). Learn about great marketing and the banks all at once
Banks are never anybody's favorite organization, but some of the things they do (like introducing delays into settling transactions... you wait for your money, they get to play with it a few more days) can be really dissapointing. A great little booklet, Oanda's guide is helpful both to understand the way the forex world works (and how you just might be getting ripped off), and also an example of how one small company is challening the banks at their own game... and telling the world about the uneven playing field. ... To the authors: you must be kidding
I'll summarize this book for you -- "Foreign Currency Trading is difficult, if you want to learn more, send us some more money and we will enroll you in a class."
Rarely have encountered a book this useless.
As others have said clearly, this book is a waste of trees, ink and the time of its reader. The "authors" should be ashamed of such blatant hucksterism and poor description of even the most basic aspects of trading. Even if you are a neophyte, look somewhere else.

The well-connected, Harvard-educated Tsuru was intimately involved in many of the landmarkevents described, especially the shaping of economic policy during theOccupation years. A must read for any Trader
This book is one of those books which is a must read for a Trader to be successful. It is more useful for those who want and operate in global markets and not just plain equity. It also analyses the major events and discloses the facts which most media missed but was crucial to the risk taken by the particular trader.

At least READ the book before panning it!
I cannot believe the two reviews that currently (November 2005) appear regarding this book: one critic admits to never even having read it, while the other goes off on jesuitical semantics!
