4-0 out of 5 stars Quite basic, but validates unpopular ideas.
Alexander offers sometimes simplistic suggestions, but just having those suggestions in print makes them valid in the eyes of some corporate managers. One of his suggestions .. to cut down on paperwork, reduce the number of copy machines in your office (page 97). The book contains self-help exercises and motivational quotations from many sources, many of whom have never been thought to be associated with time management ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointed - not the bob bly quality of old
bob bly has written a lot of great books.this is not one of them.i have bought and read most of his books.this one is not up to bob's usual quality. 5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!
Robert W. Bly's helpful, amusing and slim volume is jam-packed with wisdom and plenty of tips to help you organize, manage your time better, cure procrastination and increase your productivity. While some of his advice is plain old common-sense information that you've probably already heard, it may well bear repeating. Just one look around your office may show you how many people have heard some of this counsel before but are still hopelessly disorganized time wasters. Bly includes pertinent data from surveys of leaders and working stiffs who feel overwhelmed by information, too many demands on their time and the constant struggle to fit 25 hours of work and real life into a 24-hour day. He also sprinkles witty and instructive quotes throughout the book, which we at getAbstract.com recommend to anyone who'd like to have a little extra time left over (and that's everyone). ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A book to give to Type A's.
This book explains a variety of ways to eliminate the stresses in life that can damage one's health and otherwise reduce the quality of one's life. It may be useful to those who feel generally stressed out but can't seem to identify how to control that stress.5-0 out of 5 stars amazing

3-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive (though not original)
This book covers the basics of contemporary thought about time management. The author summarizes and explains many tips and tactics that are available elsewhere: however, if you only want to read one or two time management books, this one is better than many in the crowded genre. Some reviewers have complained about the format -- similar in layout to the "Idiot's Guide" and "Dummies" series -- but many readers find that headlines and sample quotes are easier to read and skim than more tightly packed text.I'm a Ph.D. psychologist who coaches academics andmid-career professionals, and for my work I've read dozens of time management books. This is a reasonable, although not stellar, addition to the pack.

2-0 out of 5 stars Basic Information Spread Out Over 327 Pages
My tip for time management is to skip this book.Assuming that one reads at about one page per minute, it's difficult to believe that one could recoup the five to six hours invested in reading this long-winded, tired, poorly written, poorly organized book in saved time. The time management pointers are very basic, and have been written about many times [this book is essentially a 'compilation' (to be polite) of past research];the author (Marshall Cook) seems to 'borrow' liberally from many sources, and particularly from Stephen Covey's far superior '7 Habits of Highly Effective People'.I recommend '7 Habits' or Brian Tracy's 'Eat That Frog' -- a short (113 page), easy-to-read book that gives better information, but can be read in an hour or so.

1-0 out of 5 stars Layout not very efficient.
If you can stop and examine your daily practices and how they use your time - then change the way you act, don't buy this book. There weren't very many pointers that I couldn't have come up on my own.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Buddhist ideas in a business application
This is terrific introduction to Tibetan Buddhist ideas that are easier to understand because they are expressed in the anecdotal situations of running a printing business in the 90's. The author is candid andunpretentious, speaking clearly about the ups and downs of applying someancient wisdom to his work, ideas thathave come from a genuine buddhistmaster, but still had to be applied by someone who, despite considerableexperience in business, was still a student of applied Buddhism. I like thegenuineness of the author, and the feeling of the relationship with theteacher...this book is fun for those of us convinced there is something inBuddhism of great value, but not sure how to bring that something directlyinto our daily lives.

5-0 out of 5 stars New ideas on mastering time
This is a great book because of how it brings together ideas that are usually kept in separate compartments. The author is the student of a Tibetan Buddhist teacher, and about ten or twelve years ago he and someother students started a printing business. The idea was to use Buddhistteachings in the business, especially some principles that they call"skillful means," and to see if they could make the business moresuccessful.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Time management from my car
What better way to learn about time management than during those otherwise unproductive drives to and from work? I appreciate the perspective from this CD. Catholicism is not just a chapter at the end of the book, but informing and interwoven throughout the sound principles and techniques taught by secular professionals in this industry. But, don't assume you can accomplish time management changes just by listening. You must still do some assignments at a desk (or kitchen table). Now if they could only include those appendix materials with the CD...

5-0 out of 5 stars Well-written, in plain English
There is no magic pill or fix in Durand's book.It is the simple truth that we all know but fail to put into action.

5-0 out of 5 stars The secret to what makes good Catholic Families tick!
Wow!As a convert to Catholicism, I always was in awe at what made good Catholic families tick and how they managed to get everything done, have awesome kids, and seem very balanced. Here is the answer! This book is unlike any time management book you've ever read, and it is indeed distinctly Catholic and prayer centered.I would also recommend it for Protestants as the same principles could help them as well. The key is balance balance balance, prayer, and priorities. After trying this book out I found my time was actually increased and I got more done, and felt good about it too!We even have been successful in launching family prayer. Can't say enough.Buy the book! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Insightful!
The colorful, almost cartoonish, look and feel of Roberta Roesch's book will probably put off people who prefer to have their solutions shown to them in black and white. And that's a shame because this book is an excellent time-management resource for everyone. Roesch created her book for people who "don't have time to read time books," and did a really wonderful job. By eschewing the standard book format, she may have alienated some readers who prefer their books to look serious. But it is precisely this format that encourages readers who wouldn't normally buy time management books to give this one a chance.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Customizes Itself to You
One of the things I really appreciate about Gary Kroehnert's "Taming Time, or, How Do You Eat an Elephant?" is that you write in it.Lots.It starts on page 9, where you write down what you hope to do as a resultof what you learn from his book.By answering his well-constructed,thought-provoking questions in writing, you think critically about how youmanage your time--and find ways to improve. This book is not about theoryand advice. Each page is geared toward the content that is most relevantto you, then applying it to your life.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Most Useful Technology Books to Read
I happened to pick up this excellent book from a local library. It has everything I need to know about organizing my life in the tech era.It was written in a precise and straight forward language with selected amount of useful information. I have read quite a few books in organizing and technology management. This book amazingly covers most core principles in other books, and its texts are less than 150 pages.5-0 out of 5 stars non-techie

5-0 out of 5 stars Focusing Your Attention in the Most Useful Ways
While American bookshelves are burdened with time-management books that few feel they have the time to read, Swedish physicist Bodil Jonsson has written about a totally different subject: new ways to think about, appreciate, and use time.In this European bestseller (newly translated into English), she points out that "time is not something you can resolve once and for all."The book contains the benefits of her twenty years of thinking on the subject, and will give you greater awareness of and ability to make good use of your own time. The book is done in a recursive style to help you see the same issues from many perspectives. Her main point is that you need to carve out time to be a thinking, innovative, caring person from the frantic pursuit of "doing" daily tasks.Read more
