5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful
I highly recommend this book.If you have had a reputation for being disorganized in the past, by following the instructions here you can really clean up your act. This book includes chapters on how to arrange tickler systems, how to keep your hard drive orderly and high-functioning, and hundreds of tips on how to trim minutes off tasks. The arrangement of the book is effective and clear, and the presentation of concepts is well-written too. This book isn't just for office managers--as a professional I find it extremely useful.

5-0 out of 5 stars As practical and applicable as it is "reader friendly"
Now in an updated and expanded fourth edition, Susan Silver's Organized To Be Your Best!: Simplify And Improve How You Work continues to be an indispensable instruction manual enabling the reader to control multiple, ever-changing projects and priorities, intense workloads and information overload. 5-0 out of 5 stars Read it and gift it to all your friends!!!
I have been a fan of the Merills, since their synergistic work with Stephen Covey with "First Things First".
5-0 out of 5 stars Another classic, good material, well presented

4-0 out of 5 stars Investment stragegies that go beyond money
This book is one of many that build off Stephen Covey's "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People," and is a more in-depth discussion of prioritizing (Living in Quadrant II for those who speak Covey). This book is divided into four sections that reflect the four biggest concerns Americans face--the workplace, the family, time, and money. The basic message of the book is that one must think in terms of "investing," whether it be money, time, or effort. It is important to examine what one invests in so that maximum returns can be paid on that investment. As an example, investing money in a car yeilds a much lower return (a negative return) than investing in a mutual fund.Investing time in televison watching yields a much lower return than helping your child with his homework.Investing in effort in a long-term project that is still months away yields a much higher return than filling out some pretty-unnecessary paperwork.Other commentators are correct when they say that the examples of theory-in-action can be fairly unrealistic (even though they really happened!), but they illustrate the authors' points well.I would first recommend the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. If you find that helpful (and I imagine you will), this book is an excellent follow-up to it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A winner with both analysis and strategies
The author has done an excellent job of providing useful tools, as opposed to the platitudes and vague concepts that plague many self-help books. There is a good balance between analyzing the causes of behavior and providing ideas and strategies for changing it.Of particular note is the useful distinction drawn by the author between procrastination and problems with decision-making.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very useful and motivating self-improvement guide
Ms. Lively is a consultant and speaker on the subjects of procrastination, workplace decision-making and clear-thinking skills. She has also written an eBook called Managing Information Overload.4-0 out of 5 stars Don't hestitate! Read this book now.
This book is very suitable for two types of people. The first type is they dont know what to do. And the second type is they know what to need to do, but dont do it. If you are one of them, you must read this book immediately. You may not change your lazy behavior after reading this book, but you will know the right direction of being a person who know what to need to do and do it right now. Also, the author divided the content into two parts, one is for the first type of people, another is for the second type. Therefore, you can read the part you need. It can save your time also because of the clear structure. Moreover, many useful tips and techniques are given in each chapter. Apart from teaching the readers the way to overcome procrastination, the author draw out the benefits and drawbacks when you are procrastinating. Certainly, it is not enough to know what to do, it is useless if you dont do it. So, this book will help you a lot if you want to be an active person. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Turn It Off - Three Little Words That Can Change Your Life!
Regardless of who you are - a casual user of today's technology, old, young, or in between, a corporate citizen or a manager - it is easy to become enthralled by today's "toys", which turn into "tools" and unless handled carefully, change into "weapons" that threaten to control us.5-0 out of 5 stars This book is "spot on"
This is an excellent, thoughtful and well-written book. Even more important, the author is absolutely right about the impact of high technology on our lives. The approach he proposes for simplifying your life is, unlike those proposed by others, reasonable, practical and achievable. I highly recommend the book --- as well as the less practical but far more humorous look at high technology and society as provided in the paperback, GONE AWRY: A virtual tour through high tech hell.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get Your Life Back!
We used to be able to disconnect from the office. Our home lives and our work lives were separate. We had a life, as today's expression goes. In a world of e-mail, voicemail, pagers, cell phones, and personal digital assistants, it's increasingly hard to have a life. At least a life outside of work. Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars It's About Time!
Organize Your Family's Schedule In No Time (In No Time) by Valentina Sgro is an unusual 'organize your life' guide, as it helps you organize your life by showing the many options you have to make day-to-day living more productive and a little less stressful. Sgro says "You're welcome to read this book from cover to cover...but what we really want you to do is to use this book to improve your family's life."She suggests that you read the sections that apply to your family circumstances before making any decisions on your next move.I found "Dealing with the Necessities of Life", particularly helpful. It shows how becoming more efficient can result in adding hours of quality time to your family's life. Moms (and dads) with preschool children with will welcome "Managing the Preschool Years", some of the author's idea are so unique, your youngsters will look forward to doing their chores. The sidebar notes, cautions and tips in this book contain useful information and are to the point. Ms. Sgro shows you how to make a schedule/calendar that will work for every member of the house. You will find diagrams, various calendars, suggested products along with the cost and website.
5-0 out of 5 stars A BIG HELP in the "How-To" Dept!
I found this book to be extremely thorough on the subject of organizing a family's schedule, as well as easy enough to read in a short time. I liked the numerous tables and figures illustrating exactly how to do specific tasks.

As a coach and consultant to attorneys struggling to make5-0 out of 5 stars The business case
The long-awaited, "Beyond Work-Family Balance," is finally out! Many of us have been waiting for5-0 out of 5 stars A groundbreaking book
This is a book we have all been waiting for. After decades ofreflection and debate about how best to developinnovative, high performance organisations, on the one hand, and how to enhance gender equity and work-personal life integration on the other hand, this book tells us that the two are not only compatible, but mutually dependent. Written in a non technical and thoroughly engaging style, the book argues that work practices and norms which are inequitable are also ineffective. The authors have the rare knack of presenting a deep and thoughtful analysis in such a clear way thattheir argument seems simple and obvious.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Practical Read to Empower Women
I learned something useful about saying "No" just flipping through the pages. This is a helpful read for women who tend to resist saying a firm "No" and get over-committed. I like the comparison of Naysayers and No-Sayers (p. 76), the "don't do" list (p. 108), and the Taking Action and Discovery Questions at the end of each chapter. Could be a personal study guide or used in a group.

Whether you are a people pleaser or a yes-aholic, this book gets to the root of why it is ingrained in women to be available to everyone.

1-0 out of 5 stars Is this "time management" or "how to use microsoft outlook"?
I was particularly looking forward to the chapter on email, since my INBOX is perpetually swamped. However, this book spends too much time describing, step-by-step, how to use microsoft outlook. I already know the mechanics of how to use the program, and no real insight was provided. 5-0 out of 5 stars Put Time Management to Work
"Peggy Duncan has done a great job with this book. It is easy to read, highly practical and packed full of useful information to save a busy person time. Not only does it address time management from a priority management point of view but it provides nitty-gritty, real world examples and help to make you more efficient and effective.I gained a lot from it and highly recommend this book.If you want to get more done in your life, don't hesitate.Get this book and improve your life."
