5-0 out of 5 stars Time Power
I read this book in 1996 and forgot how good it is.Rereading it now and recommend it to anyone who is looking to be a better manager of their time and life. This is the classic time managment book, forget Covey, he ripped his ideas off Hobbs. For about $.. (it is in paperback) you can save yourself a bundle....

5-0 out of 5 stars A Life Changing Masterpiece!
This book should be required reading for every man, woman and child, and especially required for anyone interesting in improving themselves!Dr. Hobbs has an excellent system of time management to be sure, but the genius of his system is that it includes ALL areas of your life, not just in the work place. I stumbled upon this book in 1987 in the library. After reading the first few pages I immediately went out and purchased it and began marking it up.My wife did the same.I shared it at work and in my ministry. His system of understanding personal congruency and documenting Unifying Principles changed my life and has been used by me and loads of my friends for 14 years! It works! If you can get this book, GET IT.

5-0 out of 5 stars Please reprint this book!
This is not your usual techniques and how to book. It's a philosophy of managing your life. I have found the core idea of Self-unification of behavior and principles and the logically deduced goals sequenced according to the Pyramid of Productivity and implemented with the Concentration of Power turbocharges goal achievment and self-esteem. The one reviewer is right. This is not a quick read. It's not dense or boring. Acutally, his breadth and his down to earth approach, makes it seem easy. I have one copy heavily marked up and I recommend that if you see it in a bookshop--buy it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of my time...
I'm not one to talk negative about something but this book I must. It's not something that I was thinking it would be.I was looking for some educational information about things that need to be thought of in order to not procrastinate. This book is just a question answer book. It'll ask you a question and they are looking for you to respond in the book with notes.Didn't really help me out. That's the only bad aspect with Amazon. You can't open the book and glance through it to know whether you'll like it or not.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alex Lubarsky
I think that it is very funny that our lives have become so complicated that we need a book to teach us how to simplify it,but need it we do.Jan Jasper has put together what seemed like a million simple ideas on how to get through all the stuff that screems for our attention. To accomplish more, to enjoy our life more, to do the things that are important to us, we must purge all the time wasters."Take back your time" gave me a view from a different angle so that I can make a choice on what to keep and what to purge.I am glad I bought it! P.S. For me "Think and grow rich", How to win friends, and influence people", The majic of thinking Big" are five star books."Take back your time" is a strong four.

5-0 out of 5 stars SUPER BOOK for the 2000's
This book does a great job focusing on today's concerns for people of the 2000's, especially urban-dwelling, business-types, with limited time, limited space, and a desire to prioritize their work and home environments. The practical, incremental solutions Ms. Jasper offers are things a reader can implement immediately. I've read this book twice already and intend to re-read it periodically to check-up on my progress in reducing stress and organizing my business and personal time. In the new e-world filled with 'Self-Help' books (and I've read a lot of them...) this is a fresh approach with current ideas. GREAT BOOK !!

5-0 out of 5 stars Control your life as well as your time!
"Take Back Your Time" is an intelligent, easy-to-read, and helpful book for getting "unstuck".I had been stymied by the number of things on my "to-do" list -- important personal pet projects, desires to change old habits, business development ideas -- and Jasper's book provided the keen insight I needed to begin to dislodge my inertia!Jasper also made me aware that organizational skills do not equal efficient working skills -- a crucial distinction.I had check marks and notations on many of the pages of the book.I plan to lend it to my business partner, whose desk is one giant "In Box"! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Whew! Help is Here for the Overstressed, Overworked!
At last, a practical, how-to book for the overstressed, overworked office worker, middle manager, telecommuter and the increasing numbers of self-employed among us. Fifty hour work weeks with no time for vacations may be the status quo, but Ruth Klein's book shows us how to organize, prioritize and take back control of our careers and our home life by eliminating stress and finding more hours for us in our stressful work week. I was surprised when reading this book to discover how I had been sabotaging myself with certain behaviors that were making me take longer to get the job done! Bravo, Ruth, Bravo!

5-0 out of 5 stars Insightful Wisdom to the Art of Time Management
With love in her heart and a passion for living, author and coach Ruth Klein, brings insightful wisdom to the art of time
4-0 out of 5 stars Brisk advice for saving time and restoring balance
Many working women awake to the figurative sound of a starter pistol and race against the clock until they lie down to sleep at night. Author Ruth Klein understands the unique challenges that time management presents to working women. The demands of home, family and work always compete for their attention, and they get almost no personal time. She divides women into three "Personal Motivational Lifestyle" categories and explains that a woman will feel unbalanced and unfulfilled if her time investment is out of sync with her lifestyle. She encourages women to nurture a clear understanding of their own personalities so their time use aligns with their values and beliefs. Klein offers many useful, practical timesaving tips, strategies and techniques for the home and workplace. The book jumps from subject to subject with little regard to flow, but the advice is solid and actionable once you find it. We believe Klein can help you organize your time. Just give her a minute. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How Time Management Changed My Life
Before reading I was always two days behind schedule. After reading the book, I am now on schedule, or in many instances actually 2-3 hours ahead of schedule. The reason for this is that the book taught me how to delegate my work.To be precise, I am able to concentrate on those tasks that require my attention while delegating other tasks to three volunteers. This not only allows me to complete a heavier work load, but I am also able to provide better care to my patients. In closing, this book has taught me how to work smarter and more effectively and has helped to reduce stress in my life.I look forward to the sequel.Lord only knows that I still have room for improvement.

1-0 out of 5 stars Recycled Cliches with Annoying "Conversation" Theme
If you know nothing about time management and have absolutely no control over your life, then this book is a great start. However, if you've been in the working world and had to make deadlines, you already know everything here.
5-0 out of 5 stars Small to big; this one works

3-0 out of 5 stars Engaging but not too useful
although this book is quite entertaining, and she quite accurately describes pilers like myself, her approach is too 'dumbed-down'. She kept me laughing as she described situations which could have easily happened in my own home, but gave little actual information I felt I could use.

5-0 out of 5 stars Will it work on Mount Ever-messed? Stay tuned for results
I love this book as it describes what I am looking at...right now! If I had a webcam trained on the room this computer is in, you'd see pile after pile of computer mags, books, papers, etc. Both my mate and I are pilers. Sad to say.5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended for those struggling with messy homes!
I own many organization books and implemented their strategies only to fail miserably a few months later. Why?Because I'm a Piler - I have piles all over the house, on every flat surface imaginable.Ironically, I KNEW what was in those piles.Karen's book helped me to realize that I needed to work with my natural instinct to "pile".Her book is delightfully funny, and at the same time, uncanny because she described me perfectly (my husband says that Karen and I were "twins seperated at birth").The book will show you the difference between a Piler (a person who battles with chronic piles) and a Filer (Martha Stewart-types), how to organize each room, how to sift through clutter without getting bogged down, how to handle paperwork, cooking, doing chores, and holidays.I had already been doing some of the things she suggested, but feeling like a failure because "it wasn't the way Emilie Barnes does it."She validated my successes.PLEASE get this book if you are the type of person who has trouble keeping up with calendars & planners, live by "out of sight, out of mind" (think of those "science projects" lurking in the back of the fridge), have piles on every flat surface in your home, have "Laundry Mountain", don't mop floors, clean toilets & tubs until you "see a ring", always late when sending cards, letters, bills, have rolls of undeveloped film, etc.My piles are now contained, and I can easily locate things when I need them.Karen gave me HOPE and appreciation for my differences, instead of feeling like a failure for not being able to "keep up" with all the lists and schedules, like my "cleanie counterparts".You will enjoy her sense of humor, too. Thanks, Karen! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Cheat Sheet and Reference Guide

5-0 out of 5 stars Very excellent book
This book is very excellent and easy to understand, giving me a logical structure about projects, based on acronyms like GO CARTS, CRACS, DRIVER, and very clear examples about concepts. I think this little book values more than its cost. I take advantage with this book for for my current task. After read this book, I understand better, and have some essential habilities for Project management, Team work and a better sense on Getting job & things done! Go and get it. 5-0 out of 5 stars Good book for new PMs
Excellent for new project managers.Good information on fact finding and planning projects. The primary focus of the book, however, is on people skills. The author offers many good suggestions on gaining the cooperation of participants and influencing their managers.Well written and very easy to read.

5-0 out of 5 stars People-Project Management

3-0 out of 5 stars Interesting but marginally useful.
I think this book is best for someone who's read Mr. Tracey's other books or listened to any of his audio cassette programs and wants a handy, pocket-size "memory jogger" of his basic ideas and insights. If you have not read other books on time management these "quotes" are likely to be of marginal use. While I've enjoyed Mr. Tracy other works I was somewhat disappointed in this one; I thought more could have been included even in a "little book" format.I do recommend his "Mastering Your Time" audio program, Alan Lakein's "How To Get Control of Your Time and Your Life" (my favorite, though it's only available in a mass market paperback now) and Julie Morgenstern's "Time Management From the Inside Out."

5-0 out of 5 stars Time As Our Scarcest (and Thus Most Valuable) Resource
This book is designed for those who need time management the most, and have the least knowledge about the subject.I'll be brief, as a result.4-0 out of 5 stars Good Things Come In Small Packages
Good things come in small packages, and Brian Tracy's book, "Great Little Book On Mastering Your Time," lives up to that expectation. This is an easy book to read, with powerful concepts simply stated.Brian Tracy pulls no punches in his statements: "Most people engage inactivities that are tension-relieving rather than goal-achieving". This book restates key aspects using different phrasing in several placesin the book, to drive home points through repetition. It deals with thefundamental fact that without clearly defined goals we can not hope tomaximise our use of time. How we use our time directly impacts our abilityto accomplish whatever is truly important to us.Brian Tracy reminds us ofthe importance of spending a large quantity of time with our families, withunbroken chunks of time devoted to each of the most important people in ourlife.Focusing on the quality of the 2,000 hours per year a typical personworks - planning and managing that time effectively - is key to leading aprosperous and balanced life that brings peace of mind for us and securityfor those we love. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
If you do more things in less time then you will do more things in less time.
2-0 out of 5 stars Great... if work is the force that gives you meaning
This should've been subtitled "How to Become a Workaholic." Aslett is so focused on the idea of being a "producer" (read: a workaholic) that he never considers that some (most?) people's goal is not to constantly pile on more work, but to do the work they need to do as quickly and efficiently as possible so they have more time to spend with friends and family or in personal creative pursuits. Waaaay too much emphasis on the "twice as much," none at all on the "half the time."

1-0 out of 5 stars What a rip off
I love books by Don Aslett and so I was really happy to see that he'd written another on on efficiency. This book is lilterally an old book published with a new cover. If you have read his book, How to Have a 48 Hour Day, you have already read this book. The other reviewer mentioned this, but I thought he meant that Aslett was just using the same concepts. No, he published the same book with a new cover.

5-0 out of 5 stars Useful and sensible with requiring a lot of money
You can't remember what time an important meeting is. You missed your niece's birthday AGAIN, and you have to sidle into the closet past shelves with protruding rolls of wrapping paper and clothes left from ten years ago. You know you should do something about it, but every time you think about it, the project sends you running for chocolate to stave off depression. Sound familiar? Me, too.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good book

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly Recommended!
Peg Pickering presents a standard, basic time and self management guide, which is particularly helpful for disorganized people. She teaches you how to organize your work and yourself. Many of the guidelines will be familiar and seem like plain common sense. However, she presents the material in a well-organized brass-tacks way, and her summaries at the end of each chapter are particularly useful highlights of the main points. She also includes a number of charts, forms and quizzes that provide helpful advice for organizing your life and work. Additionally, the book is formatted in a reader-friendly way, with boxes and frequent headlines and type-changes that make it easy to skip ahead to the topics that interest you most. We recommend this good solid guide, particularly for office workers, managers and business professionals.
