5-0 out of 5 stars Time Management
I have to be honest and say that Time Management from the Inside Out is the first "time management" book I have read; therefore, I have nothing else to compare it to. However, during my first year in college, I was forced to take a time management course and I must say Time Management from the Inside Out was a far out better course than the one I took in college. Not only does Julie Morgenstern walks us step by step on how to schedule our time, but she helps us define our "Big-Picture Goals". Chapter 9: defining your goals and activities was my favorite chapter because she made us dream BIG and made me believe our goals were manageable. I also liked that she offered real life examples so people can relate to them and follow the solution that was given. This book is easy reading but it took me a while to finish because she makes us reflect on many issues such as the current behavior one carries in which prevents us to move forward. She offers several exercises that can help one pin point a problem. This was really helpful. I am a 21- year old transfer student about to continue my studies at UCLA and I cannot wait to put into practice the advice Julie Morgenstern offered.

4-0 out of 5 stars Truly Effective
I can't help but express my disapproval at how a review from 2000, which rated this book one star, is a spotlight review.
4-0 out of 5 stars It sure helped me; not overly complicated...
I would definitely recommend this book; it helped both by helping me to identify and diagnose my own tendencies and difficulties in this area and by suggesting strategies to address the symptoms. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best self-help book, highly recommended
I knew that 1 day I was gonna have this. This book is very incredible and very good. It tells it all what u need to deal on time management. I was first introduced to this book by my Dad who was reading it 1 time and it didn't impress me much at first, but I knew it'll be good someday. Nowadays I still got it and still is a Must-Read. B. Eugene Greissman (the author of the book) did a good job on this book and try to observe, relay and process information behind it. He 'specially talks about keeping up w/ time, not talking too much, how to communicate and motivate with others, how to manage your speed reading, your speed talking or speaking a bit, how to save time and money, how to memorize everything by using mnemonics, how to set your goals, what u plan and what's aside so forth. Also I accept Napoleon Hill, Stephen Covey, Warren Bennis, Patrick Morley, etc. which I read right now with the positive and self-help meaning process and discussion off they works. It's such interesting stuff! This is a Must if u're interested w/o a doubt it's still worth the bargain price.
5-0 out of 5 stars Self Help Masterpiece
I was so impressed with this book that I wrote the following letter to its author:
4-0 out of 5 stars Traditional time management tips plus personal anecdotes
A lively and insightful read, Griessman's book offers often cited time management tips, but then reaches beyond that, adding personal insights from well-known and successful people such as business leaders, Nobel laureates, and peak performers. This is a good book on time strategies, although the typical reader can't emulate some of the practices cited herein. If Ted Turner saves time by flying his own private aircraft, is that a clue that readers should attempt to do the same?

5-0 out of 5 stars Become more proactive and less reactive...
In this book, Mr. Kennedy makes a number of points that if adhered to, will serve to increase one's wealth and one's satisfaction with life.
5-0 out of 5 stars Concise and to the point
The author has a conversational writing style - he writes as if he was talking. So it's not great literature - but he does have the punch to deliver a most needed kick in the back to start thinking of your time as a resource. A precious resource you should use wisely and prevent from being wasted or abused by others. The very simple trick of calculating a value of your hour is a surprisingly effective tool for reframing the way you think about time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic for people who cringe at the words "time management"
If typical time-management advice leaves you cold, this book offers a refreshingly different perspective, and tons of practical ideas that are based on creative and abstract thinking, not linear, robotic instructions. This is for those of us who are usually 5 minutes late, who search the house for a slip of paper with vital information, and who find day-planners to be tedious and inconvenient. And this book never makes you feel guilty or inadequate for not following traditional advice on "productivity."
1-0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money.Don't Buy This Book.
Proof that anyone can write a book.Do not waste your money on this -- it is worthless. You can do better by asking yourself about your time management faults and coming up with your own solutions. This book has nothing of value. It is full of typos and ridiculuous quotes.

1-0 out of 5 stars Just Too Familiar
I see alot of familiar material from other authors in this book. Time Power by Dr. Charles Hobbs is alot better and closer to the truth without the padding. Dr. Hobbs was published in 1974. I wonder at the uncanny resemblence of book titles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book Ever Read
This is the best.3-0 out of 5 stars A lot of repeated material
Time Power by Brian Tracy is about taking control of your schedule so that you free up more time to do more and more.Using strategies like using a organizer, figuring out what your goals and priorities are, and things like refusing to take coffee breaks are examples of what can be found in this book.

4-0 out of 5 stars A heartfelt recapping of why prioritizing matters
To determine what you really want and work toward it, use the tools of "aligned thinking" - including the "MIN" or "most important now" secret - to reframe your attitude about your work and personal life. Tying your work to your long-term goals will make you more motivated to do things you once thought of as chores. The secret of success, according to author Jim Steffen, is to make every moment part of your master plan. In other words, "be here now." You have heard that advice before, but this book describes how to apply it. This is a short book (and could have been shorter), but nonetheless, it imparts useful techniques for getting more out of your time and life. Steffen takes you through a basic prioritizing and time management process to help you clarify where you're going in life, how to get there and how your daily tasks fit that goal. We recommend this book to you if you've really never sat down before to figure out your deepest desires and how to attain them.

5-0 out of 5 stars Telling an Important Lesson Through a Novel
This is a self-help business oriented book.
5-0 out of 5 stars Must read book
I read this book and it has made a change in my life.I am a Real Estate agent with comstant demands on my time.Jim's use of the MIN enables me to priortize what is most important now and act on that. The concept of a "holding pen" works well as I list everything that needs attention but I don't lose my focus as I have had in the past with a to do list.Lastly, the concept of looking at my MIN throughout the day helps to really stay focused. This is a terrific book and a must read for everyone.Great job Dr. Steffen! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Supplement for the Covey System
This title is an excellent supplement to the time management/prioritization system of Steven Covey. The author's thoughts and principles fall into line with the very effective and popular approach of Steven Covey. If you would like some background on the Franklin/Covey time management system, this book by the founder of the Franklin Quest Planner is a must-read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Takes a personal approach to organization and management
When he wrote this book, Hyrum Smith was CEO of Franklin Quest, which has since merged with Stephen Covey, Ph.D. to form Franklin Covey. This company conducts time management seminars for corporations, organizations, and government agencies.Franklin Covey also sells a wide variety of day-planners, scheduling books, calenders, and other time management tools.

4-0 out of 5 stars Learn to Play!
There are some definite pros and cons to this text.It was not at all what I expected, but I did find some value in it.Overall, the authors were so politically-correct as to be irritating to me, and the worldview - especially in the first section - was subtly anti-biblical. (This will, of course, be viewed by some readers as a strength and by others as a weakness.)
5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best book for creative/right brain people
This is absolutely the best time management book for right brain, creative people like me. I read lots of books and articles on time management, and benefited from many tips. But the fit was never just right. This book addresses monochronic time (linear, clock time), and polychronic time (what creative types deal with). And lots of other key topics that hit home. It answered many questions for me (Why was I always buying some new organizer, or gadget to help me organize myself and my environment? Why could I not just work top-to-bottom on my To Do list?)
1-0 out of 5 stars Not recommended
This book was not helpful. There is little here that has not been better presented elsewhere. While I liked the first chapter about different styles of time management, knowing this information did little to help me with my own time management issues. Some suggestions even seem silly-such as changing your time management system to suit your mood. Alan Lakein's "How to Get Control of Your Time and Your Life" is still the most valuable book on time management out there. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good ideas-
This book by Stephanie Winston has some good ideas for the new generation of cell phones, email, and office clutter. There are options available, and many of the ideas are easy to implement.

4-0 out of 5 stars Everyone hates the paperwork, but it's got to get done
The Organized Executive covers four topics dedicated to managing paperwork, tasks, time and staff. It specifically gives guidelines on planning one's day and setting priorities. It gives scheduling advice and a perspective on how to avoid time wasters.Staff problems from delegation to staff, expectations of staff, and management of staff is covered. The section on managing paperwork is covered first and provides a system for managing paperwork.
4-0 out of 5 stars Sound suggestions; actual read takes effort
The 1980s book is continually updated.Stephanie Winston, also author of Getting Organized, presents a wealth of ideas for managing time, paper, and people more effectively. While she offers sound time- and task-management skills such as "the art of organization,""effective filing techniques," and other ways to promote efficiency, the book is packed with charts, exhibits, and "systems" and hence requires energetic readers.

If you are like me, reading a book on how to organize yourself is nearly as hard as doing the organization itself! This book really helped simplify the process with clear, common-sensical advice and an approach that was EASY!As one of the co-authors was formerly as disorganized as I was and used the methods to organize herself, (and documented the process in the book!) it made it 'real' for me in a way that I hadn't seen in other books on getting it together. This book is a keeper, and I continuously refer to it to help me keep myself on-track!

5-0 out of 5 stars Time:The ULTIMATE commodity
For years I've thought of Europe as like the grandfather... sitting on the porch, watching America in action. He sits there, somewhat envious, reminiscing about the days when he used to be the top dog himself. But the envy is shortlived; in truth, he would never trade places with us, for he knows that the true cost of being able to call yourself #1 is far too high.
5-0 out of 5 stars Live deeper, not faster
It's the 900 pound gorilla in America that everyone should be talking about: time poverty. Most folks accept it as unavoidable; that's just the way life is.Work, work, work.Busy, busy, busy.Bulloney, says this book.I'm not doing too bad but I see the trappings of modern existence creeping into my life and I'm inspired to keep them in check. This book is particularly strong because it draws on the opinions of many progressive thinkers, rather that just one lone voice in the wilderness.Stop buying stuff, invest time in your family and community and civic society.Live deeper.I'm working on it. Are you?

2-0 out of 5 stars Don Aslett must be as much fun as a hangnail
I checked this book out because I'd bought How to Lose 200 Lbs in One Weekend on a friend's recommendation and got a lot out of it.I wasn't just disappointed -- I was amazed at what Aslett considers reasonable in the quest for productivity. If we followed Aslett's guidelines, we'd never stop to chat with a friend, would work through meals even if we were hungry (not that the meals would be worth stopping for -- Aslett considers spice to be "food clutter" and recommends sticking to unspiced food), eschew coffee breaks because lifting that cup to your lips takes time, time, time, rise earlier, work later and generally keep our noses to the grindstone at the expense of relaxation, recreation or pleasure of any kind.
3-0 out of 5 stars a bit unrealistic
I found this book to be inspirational but unrealistic - unless you are a type "a" workaholic"- then it's o.k. I bought this book several years ago and have read it a couple of times and the impression I get every time - compulsive, obsessive and unrealistic

5-0 out of 5 stars Be More Productive With The Time You Have
I just read How to Have a 48 Hour Day again. It's authored by someone I interviewed several years ago, Don Aslett. I read it every once in a while to see if I am still following some of the ways to be more productive with my time. It is the best time management book I've ever read. The way Don teaches how to treat time is remarkable. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Must read for the Unorganized
The truth is that many of the quick fix techiniques and tips that are given to the many unorganized people as I used to be don't work well for long.I was on a quest to find out how to become organized my self and be part of the select few who seem to be born that way.By following what this books says I have been able to do it.See, many of the things that are believed to help aren't very effective, such as writing down things to do on an agenda that has times written down--doesn't work because its easy to be interrupted and not finish something on the alotted time etc. etc, but these are the foundations of personal organization.I have observed that these also happen to be the things that real organized people actually do.Now they might seem simple, but these book truly brings all the aspects of personal organization together--the three pillars as i like to call them, which with one missing, the other two fall in despair and chaos once again.Master List, Master filing system, and a clean work area--sound simple, it is, but trust me, read the book.Easy read, and well worth your time if you're disorganized--true testimonial form me, I can't stress it enough. My word.

4-0 out of 5 stars weLEAD Book Review by the Editor of leadingtoday.org
Occasionally a book comes along that is short, a pleasure to read and truly helpful. If You Haven't Got the Time to Do It Right, When Will You Find the Time To Do It Over is such a book. Mayer has spent much of his career as a time management consultant and he has written a basic primer for those interested in organizing their lives to a greater degree. 5-0 out of 5 stars I first read this book in 1993 and still use it today.
Unfortunately, I later handed it off to a coworker who was struggling with organization. It's definitely a "read it once" type of book.My disorganized boss continuously comments on my organizational skills, so I've decided to pick up a copy for her as well as another coworker and replace my own. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Decidedly Ordinary
You'll find no groundbreaking material in this book, though the initial premise is promising. On the positive side, the author provides a plentitude of real-world examples, by various named CEO's, of how they organize their tasks, their schedules, and their think-tank time.On the other hand, and perhaps this is inevitable in a study of this nature, a significant portion of the suggestions are what any ordinary study on time management would cite. The jacket cover refers to this book as a "groundbreaking guide," but, alas, the groundbreaking has not yielded a sufficient number of nuggets for this reader to consider the expedition time well spent.
5-0 out of 5 stars Great Practicals and Useables
For those of us who are not naturally organized and who need help with ideas that are realistic and proven, Winston's book is a welcomed tool. She just flat does a good job in giving us several solutions to choose from. She does not advocate or lock in to just a single solution. E.g. From PDAs to Index cards in the front pocket...what works best for a particular individual is advocated. The last 20% of the book bogs down a little, but still does not deter from it's overall worth. This is a required book for our church planter interns at the Glocalnet training and NorthWood Church Multiplication Center.

3-0 out of 5 stars INTERESTING READING BUT...
The good point about this book is that it gives practical hints (although many are quite obvious) on organization issues, and therefore not only theoritical but for sure a practical approach on the topic for those needing so. However, I do agree with some other reviewer that points out the book is too much focused on CEO practices only (i.e., meaning you have assistants to delegate tasks) ... Read more
