4-0 out of 5 stars How to take control of your work day and life.
Some excellent advice on how to improve your work life by placing priorities on your job tasks, and working on only the most pressing and important. These tapes are also chock full of advice on how to control your socializing, and placing priorities on family priorities. It is not about working harder, but working smarter.I like one idea which Dick places before everybody and that is that nobody can accomplish all they seek to do.Prioritization places you in a position of working on those that need to be done, not on those that are the least important.Another gem was never working overtime on Quandrant Three and Four activities, it just isn't worth it.Lohr states using these techniques will give the individual three weeks worth of extra time in a year for work activites which is a great reward for us busy managers.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Review For Make Time
This book is filled with practical ideas for making the most of our time. It explains in plain English not just how to achieve what we set out to achieve but how to recognise what adds value to our lives and what's important to us. Thanks to Part 3: How to become more efficient, which is filled with handy hints, I'll never have to say "I didn't have time" again and I'm already better organised. The book is peppered with great quotations from famous people and cute cartoons, and the way the pages are set out make it inviting and easy to read. I got a lot out of it and highly recommend it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Practical Time Management that Really Works!
Kris Cole has another winning book here. Like her Complete Idiot's Guide to Clear Communication, Make Time is an easy, enjoyable read that actually shows how to do something practical - in this case, use our time sensibly so that we can achieve what we want to achieve. The sub-title says it all - Practical Time Management that Really Works! It's filled with useful and realistic ways to work smarter not harder, and offers pain-free ways to set goals that you will really want to achieve. The final section on how to harness the power of your subconscious mind is a real mind-blower! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Solid Effort!
This cheerful and snappy little book offers a host of helpful suggestions for using your time and talents. You will appreciate Alan Axelrod and Jim Holtje's humor, practicality, and common sense. Their advice - which applies to people at all organizational levels - ranges from planning timely and productive meetings to using the telephone wisely. They also discuss voice-mail etiquette, the best way to start your day, travel tips, and how to improve your reading speed and skills. You will benefit from the suggestions for managing your personal time, too. Supervisors can use this book to help their employees manage time more skillfully. The book is short and to the point, and happily devoid of verbosity. We at getAbstract.com recommend it as a text that will help you save time, calm frustrations, increase efficiency, multiply successes, impress others, and please yourself.

3-0 out of 5 stars How to Extend your day
This book is a good source of information to making more time in your day.I t does not touch on somethings i would have expected in a time management guide. It does not show your how to plan ahead for the next dayor the next week.I feel that planning a head is a great deal of what timemanagemnt is about.I feel that this book could work for those people whodo not plan far in advance but it has not done much in my planning part oftime management. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Ahead of its time
Written in 1959 originally, the concepts and ideas are still very relevant. Gives you insights and perspectives into workplace that has grown in productivity tools but not as much in human skills to make most efficient use of the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing clariety
James T. McCay writes an interesting book. He is pragmatic without being oversold on his own knowledge. He is simple, straightforward, and takes a direct approach on all issues of personal managment. His style and prose remind one of the phenomenological rigor that comes from continental philosophy, which makes Mr. McCay all the more interesting. His book is fascinating on those latter grounds, and given over to none of the pretenses of the discipline.
5-0 out of 5 stars Timeless strategies for the management of time
Though written nearly 40 years ago, the strategies outlined in this book still ring true.Problems with time management are indeed timeless, as are the solutions. This book actually presents a "fresh" look at time management, void of the psychobabble that so infects such works today ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Unique approach to presenting a common problem
This is basically a treatise on balancing life and work but with a different twist from a typical self-help book. The difference is the completely different writing style. This book is written like a novel that takes you on a trip through the main character's life and realization of the need to find balance. If you enjoy parables as a teaching method then you should really like this book. The story takes the reader on the protagonist's journey through the whole process from evaluation of his current situation all the way to a balanced and satisfying lifestyle.Good reading, smooth style, effective message and a complete procedure hidden within the story, Big Rocks is a recommended read.

4-0 out of 5 stars Simple Strategy for Balancing Life that 'Keeps it Real'
I have to be honest and say that I bought this book simply because I liked
5-0 out of 5 stars Unexpectedly Fun, Insightful, and Unique!
I am oftentimes skeptical of these types of "time management" books, but simultaneously I am looking for one that will actually offer me sound advice. For years, I've had a job, a family, and seemingly no time. However, Gary Russell's system turns the old notions on their head and allowed me to look at my life, break it down, and find the time I was looking for, time for my top priorities, or, as he calls them, my "Big Rocks". And it's done in a fresh and fun way.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is the perfect gift for those who love golf lovers.
I was in the bookstore wondering to get for my friend. A golf neophyte, he finds the sport both rewarding and relaxing. He once told me that golf was the perfect game and sport because, ''you aren't competing against yourfriends, you're competing agianst yourself." This was the perfect bookfor him and anyone who respects the game. Golf can be so very relaxing andit's nice to have a book that tells you where the fun is. I also enjoyedthe book because it was easy to follow and inexpensive. This is a greatFather's Day gift as well. Bravo.

5-0 out of 5 stars loaded with great information!
I've lived in this area for over twenty years, and this guide provided information that I was unaware of, for my own town. It'll be invaluable as I travel to other cities this year.

5-0 out of 5 stars If you travel a lot, and you love golf, this book is an ace
What a great idea for a book! Why didn't somebody think of this sooner? I can't tell you how many times I've skipped an opportunity to play on the road simply because I didn't know anything about the courses in that area.Never again. The next time I'm hacking up a course during some spare timeon a business trip, I'm going to blame the guys who wrote this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A well-rounded approach to life management
This book aims to yield maximum productivity by simplifying the workplace. It includes an analysis of the deeper psychological elements of clutter, including issues of reducing stress and achieving balance between work time and family time. A nice approach and a handy guide.

3-0 out of 5 stars okay but not that useful
With 500 tips I have to admit that I found some good ideas but I didn't like the book. Whether he meant to or not Aslett comes off as that guy everyone in the office can't stand. Some of his ideas simply don't stand up to workplace reality and others were clearly written by a guy who hasn't sat in a cubicle in many years.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lots of good ideas to be gleaned; a few misguided
Decent book, not quite up to par with Aslett's best books.Plenty of good ideas for minimizing overhead at work and concentrating on the "real" task that needs to get done.I take some exception at his recommendations to work evenings and weekends when needed - I think most purchasers of the book want to simplify their work life so they can get out of the office on time and enjoy the rest of their life.i.e. working overtime is one of the biggest components of a *non-simple* work life. ...
