5-0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Resource
This is a tremendous resource for mobile use cases and understanding how mobile solutions bring value to corporations.I continually refer back to this book in my research on mobile supply chains (including RFID), mobile asset management, and mobile sales and marketing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Mobilizing SAP: Business Processes, ROI and Best Practices
The book is a very high level overview of the SAP mobile infrastructure and does not give you any idea of how SAP mobile Business really works, what is the technlogy behind or what is the SAP strategy for the future. The book is very poor (just 200 pages) and it looks like just a cut and paste from material found in the SAP site with any added value or explanation that helps the reader to understand. In addition the text is too big and paper is very poor and does not justify the price.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Overview of Mobile Enterprise Applications
This book presents an excellent overview of mobile enterprise applications. The book gets into the details of SAP Netweaver Mobile technology stack and shows how to leverage it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Virtually essential
Virtually essential when travelling to Japan for business (or visiting relatives) and extremely helpful for the casual tourist. In spite of its brevity, it covers nearly all of the essentials and provides a weath of historical and cultural background for many of the customs. Even though this is the only one I have read so far, I would imagine that other books by De Mente are well worth reading.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good starting place....
I found the culture shock series to be enjoyable reading accross the board, and this business based volume both informative and largely up to date. The business information is based on 98 which makes it only slightlydated, with only the latest goverment incentives missing. The sections ondealing with culture differences were very enlightening(non-confrontational style of thailand verses the "you are just a cog,and here is an in your face review of performance" style of thewestern world). The rehashing of basics you'll find other places is placedhere just in case you missed it (not touching a thai's head, use of lefthand, etc.). Although this wouldn't be my only source of information, it isa valuable one in a limited field. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Explores the fascinating variety of cultural differences
Written by the owner of an international training and consulting company, When In Rome Or Rio Or Riyadh: Cultural Q & As For Successful Business Behavior Around The World is a comprehensive guide especially for international businesspeople, covering common cultural misunderstandings and gaffes that can plague one in nations ranging from Australia to Venezuela. From general information on how to make small talk safely and avoid common communication problems, to body language recommendations and warnings against inappropriate gestures in different nations (for example, a raised thumb is considered offensive in Australia and the Middle East), to countless case studies of problems and communication issues brought about by different cultural norms and expectations, When In Rome Or Rio Or Riyadh is not only a "must-have" resource for globetrotters but also an engrossing to lay readers curious about the sharp differences in how folks from different nations relate. Extremely accessible and down-to-earth, When In Rome Or Rio Or Riyadh explores the fascinating variety of cultural differences from an emphatically practical perspective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book Review
I find this book very easy-to-read.I like the format and layout of the book because I can quickly find a topic when I need more information. The sections are short and to-the-point, but with enough detail to give me what I need to know for specific situations. The information is practical and applicable.Plus the size of the book makes it easy to take anywhere. This book is really for anyone and everyone in today's multi-cultural world!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
This is a really good book on business etiquette, and etiquette in general, although I have not read many other books in the genre as a comparison.Gives very specific, easy to find and easy to read information on any particular etiquette topic you're searching for, and gives it to you in short paragraphs and chapters. The section on proper use and placement of table utensils is a bit to digest if you've never paid attention before.Overall, great stuff.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!!! It's an excellent reference on etiquette/

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
Interesting way of looking at things can give fresh ideas and thin book was a great read.

5-0 out of 5 stars The perfect Book for the Busy Manager
Almost every book I've read about the hospitality industry (or "management" books in general) are boring. This dude has some style and flair. Just read "MYOB" on vacation in November 2002, and was impressed with the detail and the ideas Sullivan shares in the book. This guy is obviously in the biz. He covers marketing, service, selling, team, etc and while some of it is too basic for me, it served as a reminder for my younger managers. Best part is whether the idea was new or old you can use it right away. There's a lot of graphics and the layout pretty cool. It'll be a key tool for keeping a temperamnetal restaurant team together. I wish there's been more on Team Meetings and E-learning, but he refers you to his website for that information and it's free there, so that's worked out well. I've been running chain restaurants for 12 years and this is the best book on the basics of managing hospitality; that I've seen, anyway. I gave my 3 other managers copies for Christmas. The price is great for the amount of info you get in return. Anyway, that's my 2 cents on it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prepare your Service Business for the 2000's

"On the most basic level, you give your employers 40 hours a week, and the employer gives you a paycheck. But on a deeper level, you give them your personality, character, skills, knowledge, ideas, trust, and loyalty. In return, employers and coworkers give you a sense of belonging, security, personal and professional development, opportunities, and support." When I read that I thought, "WOW!Is that ever right on!"

3-0 out of 5 stars Doing Business with Japanese Men
Contains a great deal of information that may or may not be useful to anyone, male or female, doing business in Japan depending on the situation. Everything should be taken with a grain of salt. Seems to be focused on people in relatively large companies doing business with relatively large companies. Would have been enhanced by a thorough editing by someone familiar with Japan and things Japanese as it is marred by some obvious mistakes. Statements about "tea leaves" and "cookies" being used in a tea ceremony, "peanut sauce" being one of the two common sauces used in the shabu shabu dish, etc. make one wonder about the veracity of other statements.

5-0 out of 5 stars Prepare for the worst! Japan is still male-dominated society
As a Japanese businesswoman working for some 20 years, I believe this book will help a lot for those women doing business with Japanese men. Especially those who are new to Japan. Unfortunately, Japanese businessworld is still male-oriented, and most of Japanese businessmen don't knowhow to deal with women in business. One of the Japanese businesswomen'scomplaints is, "Japanese men treat business women only in threemanners. Treat them as their wives, daughters, or hostesses at the nightbars. They just don't know how to treat them as a collogue or businesspartnerc" This book consists of actual experiences of many foreignwomen and how they dealt with. Those experiences are no exaggeration frommy eyes. It will be a good preparation to know what you may confront inJapan.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good
The title may ward of half of the population, and that is unfortunate. There are lots of great points that apply to business etiquette in general and are not unique to "women doing buisness" in Japan.Theauthor implies that the foreign woman should take every advantage of herfeminin charms on the helpless Japanese Industry, I would only suggestcommon sense. ...
