5-0 out of 5 stars A new way of thinking
I read this as a library book and had to buy a copy for future reference. It's holistic, optimistic and energising. It draws our attention to parts of reality that our western culture tends to ignore. I hope it will bring this new (yet ancient and traditional) way of thinking into the mainstream, especially among business leaders etc.

3-0 out of 5 stars A passionate plea, but (institutionally) naive ...
"Presence" emerged from the fear that our world is going to hell in a handbasket. If we are not careful, its authors tell us, we are headed for a "requiem scenario" that spells doom over our planetary society. We all in affluent industrialised societies have a responsibility to stop this slide towards a final armageddon, to renew ourselves and our institutions, particularly those engaged in making money. "Presence" proposes a 7-step plan to help us doing just that. It starts with a downward movement along a U-diagram, leading us (as individuals) away from our trusted mental maps towards a higher sense of purpose. The bottom of the U-diagram is a state of "presence" (hence the book's title) from which we can perceive our highest future possibility as a particular human being. This awareness leads us up on the other side of the U, into a co-creative field of building new partnerships and institutions.
4-0 out of 5 stars Deep work happening in some organizations
Although I agree with some of the previous reviewers that much of the material in this book could be found in more depth elsewhere, yet I still enjoyed the book. What I found interesting was the process the authors went through in trying to clarify the core ideas in the context of their work with organizations and organizational leaders. It is important that these ideas, whether original or not, permeate some of our core cultural organizations. It is these organizations which have such a large impact on the world today and it is the actions of these organizations (and our contribution to the social matrix which makes such actions possible) which critically influence our well being. It is heartening to see that the viewpoints expressed in this book may have a chance of taking hold in such organizations and seem to have already begun to germinate among some of the leaders of these organizations. ... The book is very informative & educational.I'm so glad that I put forth the effort to purchase it because it will help me with my home-based business.

1-0 out of 5 stars Typos detract
This version of the books is filled with typos. The CORRECTED version of the book is available at Amazon. Simply use the search engine to locate the new version # 1887938958. I would not recommend buying this book simply because is has far too many typos in it. I would strongly recommend buying the new version of the same book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Required Reading for Network Marketing
This book explains the concept of building a network of consumers to build wealth. It clearly demonstrates why no selling is needed and is absolutely essential for anyone that is serious about building a large team. Please note that there are two editions of this book. One is riddled with typos and has been slammed in other reviews. The ISBN for the typo filled edition is 1587217899. The ISBN for the corrected edition is 1887938958. This is the one you want to buy. I agree with another reviewer that giving the wrong edition could undermine your credibility. That's why I've included both numbers so that there is no mistake when ordering. Make sure you are ordering 1887938958 and you'll have no problems. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Maxwell rephrases the rules for treating people right
Author John C. Maxwell follows his solid 17 Indisputable Laws of Teamwork with this book, which provides 25 essential "principles" for fostering interpersonal relationships. Maxwell uses poems, quotations and stories about such varied individuals as Benjamin Franklin, Martin Luther King Jr., Dale Carnegie, Barbara Walters, Pete Rose and Billy Martin to enliven his short chapters about the small, important steps that build better relationships. Unfortunately, the book seems slightly forced, stretching its theme to cover overlapping and somewhat arbitrary principles. Still, its broadly based, motivational stories make it spiritually uplifting. While this entry is not as compelling as Maxwell's work on leadership, we believe it will be very useful to those who want to build stronger friendships and aren't sure how to start.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Behavior-Changing Read
This is a thought-provoking read.I must admit I had some difficulty accepting that the problem is my fault--:)--but after I got over that hump, I was wide open to receive the teachings in this book.Very practical yet eye opening--you will learn some things about yourself, and you will grow and be better for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Valuable book that can applied to any aspectof life!

3-0 out of 5 stars The big DUH
This book is good enough at what it sets out to do, which is to define the major concepts and terms used by members of the Cult of Six Sigma. Spoiler alert: Six Sigma is process improvement using logic and data. (Well, duh!) Now you can save yourself nine bucks.

5-0 out of 5 stars A basic primer anyone can read and understand

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Marketing Books read.
This is an excellent book for marketers to read. I'd even "position" this book as one of the best marketing books out there. Today, when there is so much "fluff" out there and things being repeated and re-sold in books, you come to realize how much you appreciate a fresh thought. This book gives you exactly that.
4-0 out of 5 stars A great book for learning more about positioning on the American markets
It is a great book for learning the basics in positioning. It primarily focus on American companies and I would have prefered more examples from Europe, that is why I only give it 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great insights
The book is a real classic, giving great insights into what works in marketing and more importantly what does not work and why it doesn't work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolute LIFE-SAVER for the over-worked
My career had reached a point where I felt like I was running on an ever-increasing treadmill: the harder I ran, the more it would speed up. I was spending 16 hrs/day at the office, miserable, perpetually stressed...
5-0 out of 5 stars May be a lifesaver!
Just what I needed in the nick of time. As with all useful popular psychology books, its efficacy is in the reader making an effort to follow through with a plan, and Morgenstern inspires me to do just that. I especially appreciated her quickstart program. Saving the procrastination-potential reading until I've got a handle on some of my clutter--in both time and space! Speaking of which, being as visual as I am, I especially appreciated her sketch/analogy representing the inside of a (my) closet as it aligns with the inside of a (my) calendar! They look the same. If I can organize my closet in space, I can organize my calendar in time!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Helpful, Very Real
This is a great book.It is an easy read, (even fun), and unlike all of the other organization books I've read, I feel like Ms. Morgenstern has actually been in the workplace. Her ideas are practical and realistic.I came away with real strategies that really work. I highly recommend it for anyone who feels they are missing the "organization gene".

5-0 out of 5 stars Good ideas, examples and results.
I bought this book being a newbie to bloging. Results after I've read it? I would call my self a bloging enthusiast now.
3-0 out of 5 stars A bit too much in the typical management book mode
Blogging is all the rage these days and authors Scoble and Israel proclaim that "blogs are changing the way businesses talk with customers." The claim is vastly overblown in the sense that most businesses do not and will not talk "with" their customers, but rather talk "to" them.
5-0 out of 5 stars An Insider's View
Fascinating book.Scoble practically invented blogging, and both authors are totally immersed in it. They know the bloggers, the technology, the history, and the culture. They don't know the future, but they make some pretty good predictions.

Yes indeed this book was/is (I still crack it open)very helpful to me. Before I read this book, or took the class that used this book, I was a very bad speller. My grammer was poor and my writing technique was even worse. If this book helped me I am sure it will help you.

5-0 out of 5 stars An Excellent Guide to Business Writing
This book is an excellent tool for writing, especially for the non-native English writer. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in a study guide with many examples that have been updated for the current business environment. The numerous samples and the grammar review are veryhelpful for studying the fundamentals. This book is extremely relevant in abusiness world crowded with a cornucopia of poor writing, misspelling, andincorrect grammar usage. 5-0 out of 5 stars A thoughtful & powerful corporate guide for breaking free from old patterns of thought!
Prisoners of Our Thoughts: Viktor Frankl's Principles at Work
5-0 out of 5 stars A Sensible Path to Serenity
In Prisoners of Our Thoughts Alex Pattakos has taken Viktor Frankl's logotherapy into the 21st century. With this book Pattakos has distilled meaning centered therapy into its essentials and created a practical, therapeutic approach available to the layman struggling with today's challenging work environment.
4-0 out of 5 stars Choice rather than rote thinking
"Prisoners of our Thoughts" is based on common sense, but common sense of an uncommon sort. Rather than meeting life with a monolithic sense of entitlement, Dr. Pattakos proposes an attitude of service. Find meaning for yourself in your life and take responsibility for choosing your attitudes. Dr. Pattakos' role model, Viktor Frankl, represents the most extreme and heroic example of choosing your attitude, as he did in the concentration camps of World War II. To paraphrase him, everything can be taken from you, except your ability to choose your attitude toward the situation you may find yourself in.

The Stephen R. Covey engine has kicked out numerous books on self-help, and they consult 200 out of the top 500 Fortune companies. After all of those books and years, they have heard enough stories and waded through enough crisis situations to get a good handle on what works and does not work in all of those environments.

The author of "First Things First," Stephen Covey, Roger Merrill, and Rebecca Merrill, are all involved with the Franklin Covey Company--a company most known for training individuals and institutions in "The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People."The purpose of "First Things First" is to provide an expanded, fuller treatment of some aspects of the Seven Habits. These aspects include the concepts of "Sharpening the Saw" (making time to renew and develop your mental, social, physical, and spiritual health), Quadrant II (things that are important yet not urgent), Personal Mission Statements, What Matters Most (making sure you spend your time in the most important activities and relationships), Roles and Goals, Synergy and Inter-dependence, and Leadership Styles.
