5-0 out of 5 stars Success secrets from the Giants
In this great audio program, Napolean Hill shares the secrets he learned from Carnegie, Ford, Edison and other legendary giants of the early 20th century.--- and the common set of universal principles that Hill discovered at the root of their success.5-0 out of 5 stars Good to Hear the Old Man Speak
I like listening to the inflections and style of that old Napoleon Hill. Keep in mind that the audio is kinda rough to listen to because it was recorded a long time ago. The ideas and thoughts of this person will live on forever.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent !
A tape that you will want to listen to time and time again. Listening to Napoleon Hill himself is mesmerising. His story, his findings and his subsequent philosophy is so easy to understand and even easier to put intoaction. Good Luck to all who heed his advice ! ... Read more

Editorial Review

John Wooden was named ESPN's Coach of the Century for the way he led his UCLA basketball team to the top of the sporting world in the 1960s and '70s. Andrew Hill was a rebellious and sparingly used reserve on the squad before becoming a successful television executive. While it's doubtful that either would have predicted it at the time, the lessons imparted on the court by Wooden eventually helped Hill reach the top of his profession. And in Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What a great little book!
I really enjoyed this book by Andy Hill. Not until he realized his own successes and failures did he fully see all that he learned from coach Wooden. The foundational principles taught by coach Wooden are one's that we can all admire."Make each day your masterpiece."Buy this book, then give it to a friend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent advice for anyone in a leadership position
The book begins with a brief summary of Hill's introduction to Wooden and Hill realization that the only reason he's made it this far is because Wooden's teachings so ingrained in his mind from his time at UCLA and that they are applicable to all aspects of life.He relates Wooden's 21 "secrets" to his business life, and demonstrates how they guided him to the top. It's amazing how perfectly these teachings fit into regular life.John Wooden is truly an enlightened soul.5-0 out of 5 stars The teachings of basketball related to the lessons in life!
Be Quick - But Don't Hurry! by Andrew Hill may be one of the most influential books I have ever read. The author teaches the reader about how to be successful in any aspect of life through the teachings of what John Wooden had taught him at UCLA.John Wooden is arguably the best coach of all time, for any sport or level of play, so it makes sense that the key to his achievement as a coach was based on a plan that truly worked. He called his "plan" the Pyramid of Success, and he enforced it upon every athlete that played for him.Andrew Hill was a great High School basketball player but did not shine in basketball as much at UCLA during the late 1960's and early 1970's, but the lessons he got out of John Wooden lead him to be a business success in the television broadcasting industry for CBS.If you are a fan of basketball, this book will interest you, because it relates basketball to succession in business, and makes the keys to business succession easy to understand. All in all, this book will teach you at least one lesson, and will probably leave you with ideas of changing your life style to achieve exactly what you want in life. This is a definite must read book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Intelligence and counter-intelligence in business
"Intelligence" in this book is used in its strategic sense - building knowledge of competitors and determining what internal knowledge needs to be protected from others and how to protect it. The book focuses on building competitive advantage through an understanding of intelligence, and integrating this focus with wider aspects of knowledge management. It is therefore centrally concerned with the competitive value of knowledge and the impact of the competitive environment on tools, techniques, organization and protocols for management of knowledge.

3-0 out of 5 stars Drones beware
The first sentence of chapter 1 is probably my favorite quote from this book, and sums up the premise quite nicely:"Unless a businessperson gets cornered into speaking directly to live people - say, English teachers bearing assault rifles - we know what to expect: an indigestible main course of catchphrases and endless prose, with not a lot of substance for dessert."
2-0 out of 5 stars Boring, crude and just plain wrong
One of the least original thoughts I've heard in a long time is is that some business people writebadly. They state premises without the matching conclusions, they overuse jargon, they can be dull and they hide behind buzzwords. Big whoop.
2-0 out of 5 stars Tedious coverage of an important topic
Certainly a topic that needs to be addressed. It's a shame they didn't follow more of their own advice. In particular "keep it short."The content of this book would have made a good article, but there just wasn't a book's worth of material here.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tribal, Individual, and Symbolic Realms of Power
In Three Levels Of Power And How To Use Them, Myss continues to lift the curtain on the human body's energy network, and the vast data banks which stores our thoughts and feelings. She explains that the power centers (chakras) can be divided into 3 levels: the tribal, the individual, and the symbolic. She also discusses the 8th chakra, a place of symbolic, or archetypal, sight. Myss says that power (our life force/prana/chi) is the common ingredient within the human experience. Moreso, it is the common ingredient in health, and certainly in the loss of health.
1-0 out of 5 stars Unfortunately I found no value in this
I was disappointed by the other reviews that led me to buy it.If you do want to purchase it, consider buying my copy on sale on Amazon for $9.95.But I dont suggest you buy it!Why?Because there is no logic or credibility to the content. She seems to simply have an interesting way of talking and an ability to manufacture terminology. She's "America's premier medical intuitive" probably because she's the America's only medical intuitive.:)

5-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating concepts on where we get and loose power.

4-0 out of 5 stars This book doesn't try to tell l you what to do, but what had been done before
What does it take to be a successful business leader? This book, edited by Peter Krauss, is filled with classic writings by legendary business leaders. Also in this book, the reader will find, behind the inspirational phrases and classic pieces of advice, the stories and examples that will inspire, and turn advice into action. This book is not so much focused on telling one must be done, but focuses on showing what has and can be done.
5-0 out of 5 stars 51 Invaluable Perspectives
Peter Krass has edited the Wisdom Series series which includes this volume. Each anthologizes brief essays by different "icons of business." A brief bio of each author precedes her or his essay. In the Introduction, Krass asserts that "Among these various characters, in fact, the general consensus is that leaders are made, not born. The mythology of some mystical ability that surrounds these leaders is just that -- myth. As to the question: What makes a leader? The answer is here" in the 51 essays which he organizes within the following framework: 5-0 out of 5 stars An Indispensible Resource for the Perpetual Learner

5-0 out of 5 stars Spirit First; Success Follows: Winning the most and best through playing for the team and not strictly for the win!
"Leading with the Heart: Coach K`s Successful Strategies for Baseketball, Business, and Life by Mike Krzyzewski (Coach K) and Donald T. Phillips provides provocative, real-life anecdotes that capture the meaning of the spirit of winning for the team.Coach K shows that through the spirit of playing FOR the team - and not strictly for the win -- and with the spirit of those who can be considered "the HEARTS of the TEAM," possibilities become boundless. It's not the win that defines success. It's the spirit first, through which the success follows.Sometimes the team stumbles and sometimes the team loses.Every team and every human being goes through these trials and tribulations. What defines the spirit of success, as taught to me by Kirby Thibeault, author of a book of inspirational poetry titled Wealth, and reflected in the teachings of Coach K, is the ability to overcome psychological obstacles, to see and strive for the most positive possibilities, to never give up, to look outside the "box," to look within, and to discover the true meaning of winning.Kirby Thibeault, author of Wealth, expresses a similar perspective in his forward titled "Wealth" when he writes "It's realization is like that of the discovery of the divine. All that was unknown and limiting becomes clear and liberating. What was once feared becomes friendly.... It's an awakening of the spirit."Coach K delivers tips that help define the winning attitude in teams, in leadership roles, in success, in defeat, in life, and in considerations of humanity and love."Susanne Cardwell, owner/operator of Advert Marketing Solutions and avid supporter of the spiritual views of Kirby Thibeault, author of book Wealth.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great story
This book is written by one of the best guys ever in college basketball "Mike Krzyzewski" he has been the face of Duke basketball for many years.Throughout this book he talks about his life and how he became who he is.He talks about how he builds mentally strong kids and how he has trust in everything they do.If you play sports or coach a sport this book would be great for you.I play soccer personally and this book relates to what I am told every day by my coaches. You need to play as a team and if you do you will win.
5-0 out of 5 stars a great book to read through the summer
Leading With The Heart is one of the best books I have ever read.Mike Krzyzewski does a wonderful job talking about the important things in life.Such things include leadership and the importance of family.Krzyzewski set up the book in a fun way that makes it easy to read.He starts with the preseason, goes to the regular season, then postseason, and finally all-season.His use of basketball terms is like a metaphor for life.He also gives an outline before the chapter so you know what you will learn, and then gives a short summary at the end of each chapter to show you what you did learn. The book mostly talks about leading a team, whether it is in basketball or in the real world. The awesome thing about it though, is that he puts so much more into it than just how to lead.He dedicates his heart into this book, and every other emotion to truly make it a masterpiece. This book is defiantly worth reading. My reactions to this novel are tremendous.Krzyzewski has really taught me something, and I have never met him in my life. You will truly get something out of this book, even if you read just a paragraph from it.It really gives you determination to lead in what ever you do.Krzyzewski is one of the highest, most respected coaches in the history of the sports world, and you certainly will know it by reading this book.Krzyzewski really puts things into perspective, and he makes it so easy to understand. If you are interested in being a leader, or just want to get a lesson on life, or a life lesson, then you should really pick up this book and read it.I guarantee it will impact you in some way. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars "Leading by Principle" Worthwhile Reading
Louis V. Gerstner, Jr.'s WHO SAYS ELEPHANTS CAN'T DANCE? is Gerstner's account of how he managed the turnaround of ailing computer mainframe giant IBM during his years as CEO (1993-2002).The book is at its best when Gerstner gives his personal account of his first experiences with Big Blue. For me, though, the details of the IBM revival are less captivating, and my interest began to flag about halfway through the book.
3-0 out of 5 stars Good insights but falls way short of greatness
Gerstner had a big constraint while writing this book - he was writing for a general audience who may not have the inclination to know every single thing he did at IBM. Even after accounting for this, it is particularly disappointing that the book completely glosses over the real details surrounding the decisions that turned around the company. As he himself says, hard and tedious data crunching coupled with solid analysis is the basis of any decision and while the general public need not know the intricacies of every single thing, it is sad that he did not include a single case-study end-to-end.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nice introductary read.
I'm going to be an intern in IBM starting June and I was told to read this book as an introduction to what Gerstner did with IBM.Quite honestly, all I knew of Gerstner was the simple fact that he turned around an ailing IBM and made it into the company it is today. This book certainly gave me more insight into the workings of the company and the man who changed the way it worked.

5-0 out of 5 stars Terrific Book!
This book, like all of Mr. Mackay's books, is absolutely wonderful. The information it contains is timeless.Do yourself - or a friend! - a favor and read this book!

4-0 out of 5 stars Basic, no-nonsense information that is immediately useful
Harvey Mackay suggests basic details in this book, like being aware of how respectfully you address a someone else's secretary, but as simple as these suggestions are, they are critical. I read this book while I was on the public relations/sales team for the Marine Corps recruiting station in Kansas City. As a result of his principles of respect for people, care in personal committments and follow-through on obligations, I earned a quarter million dollars in documented free advertising per quarter for my firm. Needless to say, I won numerous awards and ample recognition from my superiors. 5-0 out of 5 stars the shark is back again
this is the terrefic book i had read after theswim with the sharks, itis easy to read , have alot of advice you could not find in any book. ifyou want totake an advice you can take it from someone like Harvey. havefun and engoy your self ... Read more

Editorial Review

Talk about an audacious title! But Suze (pronounced "Suzie") Orman means business in this anecdote-rich compendium of tips on 401(k)s, marriage, homes, and happiness. The PBS star/financial adviser has made plenty of the mistakes she warns against, like getting a 30-year mortgage instead of a cheaper 15-year, using Visa cards as magic carpets to calamity, and losing $20,000 in borrowed bucks to bum investment advice. Then she became a Merrill Lynch broker and an author capable of selling 10,000 books in 12 minutes on QVC. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars LAW OF ATTRACTING MONEY
I have long been a fan ofThe Suze Orman Show on CNBC so I do not know why it took me so long to read one of her books. Her advice is always right on the mark about finances and this book is perfectly in line with that. She has plenty of great advice on buying a home, explaining mortgages, and how to decide which life insurance policy, annuity, or bonds are best for you. The book will be very useful for anyone who needs easy to understand descriptions of these financial concerns.

5-0 out of 5 stars Systems thinking explained, personal mastery revealed
I must say I think I was lucky on reading this book after I had read "The art of systems thinking"and being familiar with the concept of feedback loops, etc. Yet what makes this cd-book unique is not only the fact that cover the essentials of systems thinking, but also to the fact that you have to personal values that will make you recognize interdependencies and the fact that there are lags to deal with, and that wisdom is indeed a time process.
5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST READ FOR TODAY'S LEADER
If you are in a leadership position, read this book! If you want to be in a leadership position, read this book! Change management is one of the more challenging aspects of leading any organization or team. Change in your organization to create a "Learning Organization", can put your team at the front of the pack. This book seems to the best analytical manual I have read that helps accomplish this goal. This book puts it in perspective from the viewpoint of "Circular Thinking" versus "Linear Thinking". Through leveraging, you can develop your organization into a learning one. The book works in concert with 5 Learning Disciplines and 10 system archetypes that can help develop you to be a circular thinker, or a systems thinker. My favorite archetypes that hit home the most to me were: Balancing Process With Delay, Fixes That Fail, and Eroding Goals. All ten are rock solid, but I related the most to those three.
5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful
I am so amazed of all the disciplines that Peter Senge talked about in this book. Relating all the examples and disciplines presented in this book, I found them very helpful, interesting, and eye
