Blink twice if you love it!
I blink twice all day long.I read this book in just one sitting, I could not put it down.To see how success is tied to a subconscience level of thinking is so right on.It is well written, very entertaining, and very eye opening.
Apples & Oranges
Gladwell writes well and the book is interesting. I read about half the book before I knew it! But I was jolted when Gladwell suddenly changed the focus of the book. In the first half of the book snap-judgments are good, then theyre suddenly bad. "What's up with that?" I asked myself.
Entertaining-- a little bit thinly sliced.
The Salon review of this book makes a remark that Gladwell's mission is to be entertaining, and not useful. I think that if you read this book in the spirit of that remark, you will not be disappointed.

Best NLP bookfor recommended readings in training
NLP is the study of excellence and the technology of achievement and success. NLP is a wonderful model to enhance communication, personal change and personal development. New Technology for the New World
Neuro Semantics has always been based on what WORKS - as established by timeless trial and error - rather than chasing the latest theory. That is what I liked about this book. It distilled the applications away from the fluff and theory. I've learned in 3 hours of reading enough methodology to give me the edge in the collective bargaining agreements I frequently facilitate.
Great NLP technics !
I was totally new to this subject and found the CD to be a great way to learn and try the different proposed techniques. They have in deed helped me and I use them almost everyday. a tale of two maniacs
Once upon a time in America there was a tabulating company executive who had almost done time for illegal business practices.This executive believed that the only way that he could stay in business was by selling the best tabulating machines on the market, and mercilessly crushing his competitors.Unfortunately for humanity, this maniac was doing business in a country run by another maniac, who had come to power by fomenting ethnic hatred.Even as things went down the drain, and the persecution of the Jews and other minorities reached loathsome heights, the American business executive didn't want to terminate his activities in Germany, and was supportive enough of the Nazis to accept the highest medal the Nazis could give him.
This book is chilling, and is a "must read"
Reading this book, and the knowledge that IBM had during WWII and thegenocide of millins of humans puts a face on cooprorate greed and hate unjlike any of the comparisions given to Halliburton today. IBM aided Hitler in his termination of the Jews, and others, and it has never, to my knowledge owned up to this, nor have they done any actions to make changes in the way companies help with genocide. Great book, great writer.

As proud as I am to be an American, this thoroughly documented, utterly revealing book, has for the first time made me look at the extents to which U.S. corporate greed and the amorality of one man, Thomas J. Watson, chairman of IBM, will go to satisfy there lust for money and power.

Textbook of mindless gobbeldygook
John Tuccillo makes it painfully clear that he has a Ph.D. in economics through this book.It reads like a textbook, and contains about as many relevent facts.He endlessy cites economic figures and studies, then continuously asserts that realtors need to change their business model, rarely giving specific advice - except for the moronic suggestion to sell your clients' financial information as a way to produce income (never mind your fiduciary resposibility, I guess).Don't waste your time with this one.

NOT for the young & lively!
After reading [a very different] lively book with real-life stories, I found this book to be dry & slow-reading. Must read for surviving/thriving in real estate

Highly Recommended!
Brian Tracy seems to have the answer for everything, including how to get that raise and promotion. Actually, his point is that you have the answer to everything, if only you can achieve clarity - knowing exactly what you want and how to get there - while disciplining yourself to work toward your objective. Can it really be that easy? Well one thing's for sure, reading this book will make it a lot easier. This volume offers 21 short chapters of clearly presented, easy to absorb (if not always strictly grammatical) material. We from getAbstract recommend it to anyone in any field who aspires to be promoted. After all, would you turn down more money? We didn't think so.

It's pretty good
Don't buy this book.Instead, buy a cup of coffee at the bookstore and take 20 minutes out to read it at the bookstore. 21 Fortune Cookies in 98 pages
No exaggeration: You would fair better by grabbing a handful of fortune cookies at a Chinese food resturant.This book is simply a list of obvious "good to do" habits for work.Read more

Among my first batch of books...greatest influence on attaining personal achievement in life!
The first batch of significant books that had the greatest influence on me in terms of attaining personal achievement includes mostly Napoleon Hill's books:
The Distilled Power Of Thinking And Growing Rich...
Sure, this is a wonderful starter kit (yes, I do have this book...) in addition to Hill's other books like "Think and Grow Rich", "The Master Key To Riches", et al. But more than that, it is a primer that makes you hungry for the mental nourishment of his full "Law Of Success" which I have just ordered through Amazon. And why am I giving this distillation five stars? C'mon, isn't it obvious, through these *distilled* principles you get a pretty good taste of the "spirit-voice" of Napoleon Hill. And when he says in later versions of "Think and Grow Rich" - 'through these pages we have met'. You know what he means here, even though it is shortened and edited. So, I've said enough, get started, happy reading.

Follow the Roadmap and you are bound to succeed
The Roadmap to Success is by far the best motivational book I have ever read. It was the first book that I have read by Maxwell, and since then I have read four others. He teaches us a new way to think about success. Clearly stated success is: knowing your purpose, growing to reach your potential, and sowing seeds to help others. It is amazing how much better you perform and how much more you enjoy life when you view success through this framework. If you have been successful so far in your life, this book will help reinforce any doubts you have about your choices and reaffirm the actions you have taken. If you are committed to growth and development then this book is a great start to helping you put aside your fears to get the most out of your life. If you are closed minded, resistant to change and generally a pessimistic person this book is not for you. While those people that continue to make excuses for their failures or the way their life turned out will never succeed, those who have the right mindset and follow Maxwell's advise will surely go far in life and reap the beiefits and joys of success.

One of the promises I make to my students in MGT 512 is that if they recommend a business book, I will buy it, read it and review it.

Flight of the Buffalo discusses the fact that the business world has changed. To stay competitive business leaders must also change and change the way our businesses operate. The only things that are constant are that change will continue to impact the way business is done and the speed of this change will continue to increase. How do you satisfy (retain) that current customer, or acquire that next customer in this continually changing competitive environment?First, as a leader you must learn to learn and learn at a faster rate. The foundation for all change is learning. Second, it is important that changes be made to the organizational culture in order to accomplish the changes required by the organization to allow employees to lead. Listen to this SOB and learn
Al Neuharth taught me a lot about how to survive in the modern world.He's an unapologetic SOB and you either love him or hate him.This book is fabulous--I own three copies.

Wonderfully written!!
I enjoyed reading this book.Al was definitley a loveable S.O.B..The man really built an empire in spite of all the critics that believed an National paper was a ridiculous idea.He did it with style, grace, and charm.The book also reminded me of an old saying "every failure plants a seed of an equivalent success."

Best Business Book YTD in my life.
I read this book a few years ago- made my son read it last year and have read it again recently highlighting what applies to my ambitions (in service). What a great reflection Sam Walton is of the opportunities of our country. When I speak to young people about money- I love telling them Sam Walton was a paper boy starting at age 11, worked and paid his way through college during the depression delivering papers. I began working at 11 for 35 cents an hour saving $286 my first summer, significant experience....America is a great place with great opportunities and people to serve. This book reflects infinite opportunities we have and share with the world. It should be required reading in high school and again in college, current affairs on a productive topic like business.

with a co writer, but still good
Made in America had a co writer- John Huey, and that usually makes me strongly not like the style of a book.However, I think Huey and Sam did a great job on this one.It's engaging without being pedantic, and the interspersed quotes made it hum right along.

I really liked it !
It was a very good book for someone who needs to build confidence when dealing with people. I enjoyed it and have read many books on meeting people and getting over shyness. If you want to meet women and are shy there is a great book called 'How To 'Pick Up' Beautiful Women' by John Eagan.It has helped me get over my shyness with women. Which is somening you can not put a price on.
A self-improvement classic!
If your career or volunteer activities require you to interact withlots of different types of people and, more specifically, to get them to do what you want them to do, read this book!Lest there be any confusion, Giblin does not suggest that his readers manipulate, badger or cojole people into doing things; rather, he teaches how to change oneself so that people will want to see things your way.H.t.H.C.a.P.i.D.w.P preaches self-improvement, not strong-arming.

This book helped me turn my life around
Brian Tracy is one of my all time favorite authors. Maximum Achievement was the first book I read in the self-development genre more than ten years ago. The book is packed with practical information and Tracy knows his human psychology. He answers questions like: What drives human beings? What motivates us? Why don't we take action on knowledge we already have?
Excellent book and resource
I highly recommend this book.It is packed with a lot of good information and insights and is really uplifting, but on a very practical and pragmatic level.It doesn't give you a lot of BS or vague general platitudes, and does provide a lot of useful stuff in my opinion.And it covers a pretty broad range of topics, on how to be more effective.I keep it handy to refer back to and re-read.

It helped me
I dont know the information it has is basic or advanced (because I'm not a sales guy) but I do know that it helped me a lot. I like the style of the book. Very very direct. Not like other books where author write the whole chapter for explaining one concept, beating the bushes. But it contains a lot of tips with enough explaination. I really like this book and will definitely recommend others. Again, I'm not a sales guy but starting my own business.

This is what gives Salespeople a bad name!
In a nutshell, this book is awful.This guy is so clich�, I am surprised he has been successful.I have taken many legitimate sales courses that have taught me great things about dealing honestly and candidly with customers, but Tom Hopkins suggests a different approach.He espouses that, when faced with rejection, you should accuse the customer of not trusting you or your companies integrity and to "guilt" them into giving in.This is NOT how professional salespeople become successful.Give me a break, buddy!Go back to selling steak knives door-to-door.
