Pretty effective book with a very nuts and bolts approach
Encountered it first as an audio book and then decided to buy it as a print book. The book is small in size but has an impactful message. How to be assertive and cooperative at the same time. Very useful tips on how to achieve both in the workplace. Highly recommend it for people like me who cave in on pursuing their agenda in our current corporate culture.

Wow!This author doesn't kid around...
After finishing Disc 1 of 7 it's a thorough pleasure to hear a practical approach to career development.While attitude is great, sooner or later the rubber hits the road.Ms Marshall provides excellent guidance for what to do in real, modern, business situations.

Put it on your list
I found this book to be different than the typical management book. Rather than filled with the usual platitudes, it contains some real world advice on how to deal with and capitalize on situations that occur in a corporate environment. The book starts a bit slow, but it gets moving once it gets into the 10 strategies. The author has a nice conversational, straight-talking style of writing. A very uplifting and inspirational book
Reading one of Waitley's other books, The Winner's Edge, at the insistence of my boyfriend, I was totally amazed at what an interesting point this man made. He suggests that in order to change your life, one must think differently, like a winner, and that is just what prompted me to read another title. The New Dynamics of Winning is also a gem in what I am sure is a long line of other great books. His whole approach is to detail the lives and careers of top atheltes and show how their habits and thinking allow them to win various awards and overcome obstacles. Waitley isn't overly preachy and includes an important step in solidifying his ideas and thoughts by reiterating the theme again and again, and also at the end of the book. This was helpful, in that he presents so much information and advice, one needs the reminder. I was impressed by his research, and as a psychology major, I found his methods to be very informative and interesting. most helpful book I have read in years
Ihave read at least 3 times in the past year and feel it has made a positive impact on my professional and personal life. It reinforces what should be such basic concepts to live and work by.I find this book inspirational and refer to it frequently.

Old hat and pretty average
I guess you can say this book is OK on the basis that reading ANYTHING about how you should get with things and think positive etc etc is going to be motivating but other than that...it's not so great. "A FANTASTIC book on success!"
I first read this book over 3 years ago and it has helped change my lifefor the better. I am now well on the way to achieveing things 5 years ago Ithought impossible. Thank you Tom.

OUTSTANDING, ENTERTAINING, & INSPIRING!!!
I really liked this book alot.It gives a concise and specific plan for anyone willing to reach their goals in life.This is not a very long book,(less than 200 pages) however, I was distracted a lot of the time I wasreading.I will definitely read this one again.I also have Tom's book-How To Master The Art Of Selling, but have not yet read it.If it's asgood as this I look forward to studying it.Some self-help authors comeacross as either self-righteous or dry, Tom has a very entertaining stylewhich any avid readers of success books will appreciate. ... A very good book for the military or business leader
This book by Apprentice winner Kelly Perdew is a worthwhile read.Written in the style of many military-business leadership books, it swtiches back and forth between Perdew's Apprentice exploits and anecdotes from great military veterans turned business leaders.The stories about Perdew's career, Apprentice tasks, and about others are both inspirational and entertaining.I am giving 4 stars because he talks about principles, but does not go deep into the reader's application of them.
Are you in command?
I recently purchased "Take Command" for a college course.I chose this book because I am a fan of the television show "The Apprentice."I could not have picked a better book to read before I graduate and re-enter the business world.
Principles to Work by (Most of the Time)
Although this book is written with a personal narrative viewpoint it is really a primer that summarizes MBA school in a short readable volume.

Right on Target!
I didn't know much about Rick Pitino until reading his book, now I can see why he's been so successful in his profession. It isn't just accomplishing goals, it's the winning lifestyle that makes results happen that cause this to be a "quality of life" book. Pitino is passionate about what he does and the people with whom he works. He writes of the maturation process he had to endure himself before arriving at a more holistic view of genuine leadership.
