Helped get me a new job.
Some of the answers they give are so full of @#%& that no one would believe them but just listening to potential questions gave me a chance to formulate my own answers to interview questions which landed me a job as a Deputy Program Manager with a 20% salary increase. This CD easily paid for itself.

Very Useful
As an Executive Recruiter, I found this book to be quite helpful.I was able to see the potential in all the questions and not only from an interviewers point of view, but as a candidate.I made a list of "tough" and "my favorite" interview questions and email them to my candidates and clients.This way they are prepared.I also suggest to my candidates that they use the questions as a guideline to formulate thier own questions for the company.An interview works both ways. I did not find this book to be very helpful.
As the title suggests, the book lists the most common interview questions.If you have no idea what those questions are, then you might find the book somewhat helpful.Read more

A former hospital administrator writes this review.
Have you ever wondered how someone that was dumber than you ended up being your boss or CEO?That really used to frost me when I was in my late twenty's and early thirty's and then I figured it out.This book does provide insight into how people ascend to the top of the heap.The problem with the book is that it takes what the CEO's say was the reason they made it and assumes they told the complete story.
A great book for people who understand the power of self-development.
This book was great. Simple, easy to implement keys to success that make sense. This book helped me understand how I can tweak my inter-personal style to let my strong areas shine. Anyone who disrespects this book does not know the power of self-development, and will not benefit. It is an easy read. I plan to read it once a year to keep myself on track. Oh, and it is great for anyone who wants to advance their career, not just those who aspire to become the CEO.

You will will still have to think for yourself
Ms. Benton is a top-tier image consultant, and the first book of hers I read was Lion's Don't Need to Roar.That was a great book about projecting the "right" image.I decided to read this book because I wanted to hear her insights about the successful CEOs she has worked with.

One of the best books on motivation
There are many things that make this book great.
By the pink-toed prophet...
...I really didn't like this book.I read alot of the success/motivational type books (see my reviews of various Brian Tracy books, for example) but I really had a hard time with this book.The constant character catchphrases (see the title of this review), the "harrumphs", and I really thought the whole blue vase thing was kind of dumb.Why not give the poor guy a test that might actually enhance the company's bottomline, rather than tempt him to break a windowin order to steal A STUPID BLUE VASE THAT NOBODY REALLY WANTED IN THE FIRST PLACE?Why not send him after an impossible to get customer or something?
Learn to get it done!
This book is a fine example of a rare breed of person.The "get it done at all cost, person."I think this story effectively illustrates the principles of becoming a go-getter.While the beginning of the book is a bit slow, it is a short read so you will be into the plot in no time.

Taking Steps Toward High Achievement
Rick Pitino is a coaching legend in basketball. He led the University of Kentucky Wildcats to an NCAA championship in 1996 and he has the distinction of being the only coach in college history to take three different schools to the Final Four in playoff competition: Providence, Kentucky, and Louisville. Outstanding Book by an Outstanding Coach
I have owned this book since it came out in 1998. I just today pulled it off my bookshelf to read again. I have ready many, many self help and self improvement books over the years as I am a fan of the genre but this book by Coach Pitino is a very good choice. If you could only have one self help, motivational book, other than the Bible of course, this would be it.

Everyone could use an "atta boy"
This was the third Blanchard book that I have read and so far it is my favorite.The fact that I was staying in Orlando right next to Sea World when I started reading it was a total coincidence, but it made some of the elements of the story really come alive for me. The ideas expressed here can apply to anyone or everyone, not just a manager of some business firm.Although, I have to admit that like many of Blanchard's books it was a little predictable and felt a little pollyannaish.

The Entire Personal Power II Set is Great!
If you spend much time at all in your car, you should check out some of the Personal Power II CD's.I have bit by bit collected pretty much the entire Personal Power II system.This is not only very motivating material, but very practical and useful.Plus its just plain fun to listen to Tony, he's just so dang....EXCITED! Plus you couldbe planning your conquest of the world during your commute and I can think of many less productive things to do! (He's right up there with Rush Limbaugh on my list of "enjoyable personalities to listen to in your car while driving)

The biggest thing missing from my MBA education was learning how to interact with other people. Business is nothing if we can't communicate effectively and regularly. This book explains in clear terms how men can understand women and communicate effectively. We men can't talk to women the way we do with other men. We are very different. Another good one by Zig Ziglar!
SEE YOU AT THE TOP by Zig Ziglar was the first positive thinking book I ever read . . . I still remember his philosophy: "You can get anything you want in life if you help enough other people get what they want."
zig tries, but doesn't make it for me
zig ziglar is a well-meaning individual i can see--i guess, but he is unenlightened and speaks from both sides of his mouth. he purports to be a supporter of christianity in every way, yet is very self-righteous, moralistic and judgmental. he is the "OLD STYLE"--the very attitude which perpetuates the negative associations many people have with anything spiritual. he makes comments about other religions which would alienate people of those faiths, so, are anything but christian. i was turned off. there were parts in which i found myself crying and really enjoyed some of it, but overall it was a bad experience. i wish i would have known more detail about this and about him before i spent my money on it. zig is a popular man-which is why i ordered this audiobook- however, "what is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular" and zig proves it. but, he's only human after all like the rest of us... i will do more research from now on, on everything i order!

Powerful book, imitated but not duplicated
This great book by Dr. Denis Waitley came out in the early 90's and was the predecessor of so many of the management and leadership books that followed to this day. Worth a read
This book is an update version of Denis Waitleys power techniques. They worked for athletes and astronauts as well as business people and they will work for you as well. Awesome Motivator!
Dr. Waitley continues to turn out one quality book after another. These works are timeless and their principles are useful regardless of the date of original publication because they are taken from Christian truths. Take his teaching on belief. On page 118 he writes "Belief as a positive force is the promise of realizing things hoped for and unseen. As a negative force, it is the premonition of our deepest fears and unseen darkness." Hebrews 11:1 is the origin of this discussion. Waitley goes on to talk about the power of the unseen by adding "What the mind harbors, the body manifests in some way" (p. 119). It's no wonder Waitley has sold so many books and held presentations all over the world. He has a valid message and is gifted as a communicator. Short Practical Advice
This is the first time management book I read. This book contains sections of practical advice to help you get things done. I consider it almost as good as "Working Smart" by Michael Leboeuf.

Perpetuates Stereotypes
As a professor of leadership myself, I am struck by how this book perpetuates stereotypes.

Leadership by the Book is written in the form of a parable or story. It portrays the interaction of three different leaders: a professor, minister and young business professional. The purpose of the book is to teach management skills and ethics by examining the example of Christianity's founder, Jesus Christ. As the authors state in the introduction, "We believe there is a perfect practitioner and teacher of effective leadership. That person is Jesus of Nazareth, who embodied the heart and methods of a fully committed and effective servant leader."
Very Slow Story!
I was absolutely bored to tears while reading this book.I think that a lot of the suggestions towards better leadership are very well intentioned and are good ideas, but it is very heavy in religion.If you are a strong believer in JC then this book might appeal to you.I was sick of the many religious references by page 30.The story was also poorly written.I found myself having to re-read portions of the book to understand the point.The only thing I will remember from this book is EGO (you'll get it once you've read it). ... Another Good Book From Byham and Cox
For those of you that read Zapp! this book continues on the same idea. It's in parable form, which makes it easy to read and the points made are on target.

Your Simple Truth[....]
In 1999, I read this book 3 times, during what I still say had to have been the worst possible time in my life.It was a time of profound family betrayal, or acceptance of what I didn't want to believe about who my family really is, what they had expected of me for my 43 years of life, and the role that I blindly held.This book was a painfully compelling book for me to read, yet one that had supported me through my crisis, and led me to convert my family history into becoming a public speaker, a gender-based self-esteem coach, and a journalist.Last week, I decided to read this again, as I noticed that I am being invited to events that signal to me that I have made giant steps since reading this book in 1999.I am so excited about writing and presenting tailored training to make a difference in each of my client's lives.I had written so many introspective documents, for so long, that now, even though I continue to introspectively write, I am consciously and unconsciously talking as someone who is here to make a difference in everyone whose life I do touch in some way.I have found a level of peace through reading Richard J. Leider's book that required me to look deeply in my soul and befriend everything about myself.I actually giggle when I reread my journals from 1999, where I had written profound painful feelings that I experienced.I giggle because I see how I weathered my way through living the life I am meant to live. I gave myself or found in myself gifts that I definitely approve of having. A Solid Effort!
Richard J. Leider believes everyone needs to find an individual sense of unique purpose. When you have this sense of purpose, you can use it as a central core of direction to guide your life and give it meaning. The book is simply written, easy to understand and targeted to a general audience. However, it also seems quite repetitious, in that the same ideas are explained many different ways. Some of these concepts are quite familiar, echoing some basic ideas about the importance of having a sense of mission, path, and goals, much like Laurie Beth Jones' book, The Path: Creating Your Mission Statement.... Finally, while some readers may respond deeply to Leider's spiritual and religious references, others may find them problematic, given the split in the business community about spirituality in the workplace. We...recommend this book for readers who have not yet considered this mission-focused dimension of life planning and for managers who wish to understand this perspective.
