5-0 out of 5 stars Required reading
this book should be required reading for anyone who is serious about their financial future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Getting rich is only half the battle
Estate taxes can claim up to 55% of your estate.Barry Kaye's simple yet amazing concepts showed me how to legally discount that amount by more than 90%.When I showed them to my accountant he didn't believe them at first ... but now we're both sold!Thank you Barry Kaye for helping preserve andprotect my estate for my children and grandchildren.

3-0 out of 5 stars Create Irrevocable Trust, buy second to die life insurance
This book makes a pursuasive case for creating, at nearly any age (assuming you have a net worth in excess of $2-3 milion), an irrevocable life insurance trust, and using the cash to fund a second to die lifeinsurance policy. The proceeds will be used to pay estate taxes, givingyou huge leverage over other alternative investments. All good concepts, proved with numerous and interesting examples.Unfortunately, the book isredundant, starts out a bit "hard sell", and has a defensive tonethroughout.Mr. Kaye would be better served by writing in a lesscollequial way...more "professional" in tone. And, notfrustrating his reader who eagerly turns each page to learn new concepts, only to find Mr. Kaye making the same point over and over again. It isalmost as though Mr. Kaye doesn't think he will be believed...so he repeatsthe thesis again and again. It got tiring... ... 4-0 out of 5 stars The book is okay
The author presents his opinion that paying taxes is bad, and giving to charity is good. There are some techinical details on tax planning, but they seem to be too complex for the beginner and too easy for people who know about tax planning already. If you have a novice understanding of tax planning already, this could be a good book to fill in any gaps.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Place to Start
The book is for people who are new to the concept of Charitable Remainder Trust (CRT) or need a quick refresher. The book does an excellent job describing the fundamentals of CRT and gives numerous hypotheticalscenarios in which this method of financial planning would be beneficial. Although rather simplified, each scenario is illustrated with $ comparisonsof Assets, Cash flow, and Estate tax, with and without the use of CRT. (This comparison got a bit tedious towards the end.) The book also containsa short glossary for reference. As with any beginner book on a highlytechnical and complex subject, the reader is left with more questions thanhe/she had started with.A good beginner book answers most of thequestions that the reader started with and elevates the reader's curiosityto seek answers to a more refined set of questions. I believe this bookhas been successful in accomplishing that. ... Read more

I've not purchased the book yet, but this 3 book review
1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste! IRS gives it for free.
This book is nothing more than the Pub 17 available for free by downloading from the IRS web site.It does have some nice notes but the US Gov't should demand that Ernst & Young pay royalties to them...that's us taxpayers. No wonder the Big Five is now the Big Four and if this is what is out there perhaps soon to be the Big Three.E&Y has shown us a very poor example of business ethics.

5-0 out of 5 stars Handy Tax guide
I have used the Ernst & Young Tax Guides since 1997 and have found them quite valuable. There is a lot of good information that helps you find unknown deductions.

1-0 out of 5 stars Numerous inaccuracies detract from good discussion
As a state and local tax professional, I purchased a copy of this text to use for "in-house" training at my company.Seeing that the "Second Edition" was published this year (2004), I assumed it would be a relatively accurate text. However, in reviewing Chapter 3 ("Corporate Income/Franchise Taxes" - my area of specialization), I was dismayed to find that most of the information has not been updated for current law.As examples, the table on apportionment factor weighting hasn't been updated for changes since 1999, and the discussion of state differences in depreciation fails to address the dramatic changes that have occurred due to 2002 and 2003 federal legislation.5-0 out of 5 stars Covering tax code, hazards, loopholes, and regulations
Now in its second edition, State And Local Taxation: Principles And Planning is the authoritative and collaborative effort of tax experts Charles W. Swenson, Sanjay Gupta, John E. Karayan, and Joseph Neff. This outstanding informational resource is meant to be used as a professional reference or a college curriculum text. Covering tax code, hazards, loopholes, and regulations as imposed by governments (especially pertaining to cross-border transactions), State And Local Taxation is meticulously detailed and spells out the facts, principles, and requirements for both students of Economics and non-specialist general readers seeking to expertly flesh out their knowledge base with respect to all aspects of governmental taxation. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars This book is full spectrum!
Most books with "estate planning" in the title deal only with the transfer of an estate. This one actually tells you now to build an estate, then what to consider when planning how best to leave it to family and charities.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent, thorough, to-the-point!
Very practical.Very Understandable.Everyone can use this incredibly comprehensive book; young and old.

2-0 out of 5 stars A middling text that doesn't translate well to audio
This book is intended for fledgling entrepreneurs, and as such its title is somewhat misleading. Rather than discussing obscure "loopholes" in United States tax law, it concentrates on relatively basic business structure and investment strategies. The abridged version is very short, and the presentation tends to degrade into little more than descriptions of different types of corporations, and other fundamental information obtainable from resources far better than this.
5-0 out of 5 stars Loopholes of the Rich
As a fan of Kiyosaki's, I was excited to pick-up Diane Kennedy's Loopholes of Rich.It was a great read and chocked full of insight.3-0 out of 5 stars Tax Strategies for the Rich and those that want to be Rich
The Rich Dad Poor Dad series of books created by Robert Kiyosaki helps people to understand how it is that some average, hard-working people propel themselves out of the middle class, while others work just as hard but can't seem to get anywhere. This guidebook is another example of the excellent material published in The Rich Dad Poor Dad series. It focuses on how to get the right information from the right advisors.Read more
