Most Appropriate for Basel II
If you are Banker/Banking Consultant then this book is the closest you will get to understanding Credit Risk from a Basel II perspective. Its clear & lucid style helped me understand the gamut of techniques used in Credit Risk Measurement. Unfortunately the Book does not get into the details of bulinding models so if your looking for a model building cookbook, look elsewhere.

Not a bad book, but has a few problems
My main problem with this book is that the text looks like a magazine, so often it's difficult to discern what is important versus what is trivial.In addition, in the first chapter the authors present all of the financial statements, which overwhelms some students.Finally, some topics are used before they are intoduced in detail.
A Fabulous book!!!
I am currently taking an Accounting class with this book and I think it is great. It is easy to understand. It is very straight and to the point. It gives you plenty of real world examples from real companies and their financial reports (which makes it a lot more interesting than other Accounting books...) Also Amazon.com is great and I have always had great experiences with Amazon.com.

Very dated material
The Q&A approach adopted in this book is very useful.It would provide for a very useful reference manual on M&A if its content were not so dated.Its discussion of taxes, accounting, and deal structures does not reflect recent changes in rules and M&A practices.It would be helpful if the author would update the material. Other more current and more comprehensive books on the subject that I have found useful include Mergers, Acquisitions, and Other Restructuring activities by Depamphilis and Bruner's M&A book.

Information for Decisions
My stereotype of accounting texts before taking an accounting class and using this book was they were all focused on the mechanics of accounting, which are dull to most students.This textbook, on the other hand,emphasizes the usefulness of accounting in the real world before delvinginto all the rules and regimentation.Therefore, some subjects, like debtsand credits, receive less attention than they might deserve, especially forserious accounting students.The textbook's diagrams are quite colorfuland useful, and its language is simple enough for your average student tounderstand.Hence, I recommend the book to any introductory-level businessstudent, but I think that more serious accounting students might prefer amore advanced or in-depth textbook. ... Psychology of Trading

Advice is not revolutionary but good definitions
It turns out I had taken most of the steps Suze outlines in this book several years ago so I can't say I found out anything earth shaking.
Overrated
Suze gives some good advice, especially to set up a will and revocable trust to help protect your family members, etc.But, it is a little too emotional and overdone."If you would just save that $2 a week you spend on whatever, you would have X amount of money on 20 years" over and over is a bit ridiculous.I really disagree with her dislike of professional money managers (I am not one) and the "follow your heart" approach.Most people who manage their own investments do not do as well as they would with a professional. In fact, many fail miserably. If you need medical advice, ask a doctor, if you need your kitchen redone, hire a contractor, and if you need advice on how to invest your money, given your situation and goals, ask a financial planner for help.Many people are in crummy dog stocks and worthless no-load mutual funds because they "followed their heart" and chased last years winners.Not a bad audio book, but my copy was really outdated (1997)--almost 10 years old.Buy something less emotional and more recent. ... Poorly written
Principles of Money, Banking, and Financial Markets contains a great deal of information regarding economics in the United States. As a student, I find it to be poorly written. The authors/editors make constant reference throughout the text to other sections of the text. For example, we will discuss this in depth in chapter seven, but for now, lets reflect our continued study from chapter two and three. By doing so, we will be better prepared to read chapter eleven when we get to it. If the authors / editors left out the references and just left the actual information needed to learn the material, the student would be able to follow the material and perhaps understand the topic better. I am strongly encouraging our economics department to seek another text for future semesters. ... Read more

A Great Reference Book for Small/Home Based Business Owners
It is rare to find a great tax book like this - easy to read, understand and implement, with all authorities referenced. The information in this book is literally worth a ton if taken to heart and implemented - especially for small and home based business owners. A dollar saved by reducing taxes is worth much more of income generated. Pay the price of learning and implementing the concepts laid out in this book - I am confident you will be glad you did. Highly Recommended.
