Just what I needed
If you are taking Accounting 1 and 2 only buy this book. Both books are in this one. No one told me to buy this book instead of the Acct. 1 book. So I bought 2 different books which was more money. I had just went by the ISBN # on Accounting 1.

Almost everything I dislike in a textbook
This book has many characteristics that I really dislike to see in a textbook.
One of the better books available
This publication provides a thorough and comprehensive review of almost every important aspect of accounting, financial analytics and reporting. A useful tool for a person new to finance or someone needing a refresh or review of important topics. A solutions manual would have been helpful, but the book is a valuable buy nonetheless.

Very good for understanding the subject
The book provides very clear explanations about different aspects of financial statement analysis. The only drawbacks are that the book is a little simplistic and that problem solutions are sorely needed. However, I am sure you are not going to use oit for self-study- you would be using it as a textbook in a financial statement analysis class. The professor, would be able to provide you with solutions (as in my case- thanks Dr. Church!) and will also help you out with some of the tougher stuff. Don't rely on this book for an online course
This book is filled with information but is not easy to follow. The ethical questions do not provide answers which leave you wondering if your own conclusions are accurate. The format tries to cover too much information without going in debth about anything.I used this book for an online accounting class and it was of very little help to me.This truly was one of the worst text books I've ever used.

Very good coverage on cross-sectional, but not enough of panel data
This book does an excellent job in covering cross-sectional and microeconometric models (Stata codes for all examples in the book are available from UCLA's webside). However, the exposure to panel data is limited. For a theoretical overview of panel data econometrics, I'd recommend Hsiao and Baltagi. For applied work, Edward Frees wrote a good book, although his book is more from the social science perspective (SAS and Stata codes are provided).

The best? Not for me (and everyone I know).
Clearly this product is overrated. In my opinion the book is a complete mess, with definitions, propositions and theorems mixed with the main text and not clearly evidenced from it.
A Gem
Wooldridge's "Econometric Analysis of Cross Section and Panel Data" is a gem.As a student of applied microeconomics, I found reading his undergraduate book "Introductory Econometrics" is a great complement of reading this graduate text -- especially part I of the UG book (especially the parts of interaction terms, dummy variables); part III (panel data) might be too chatty.I think both of his books worth every penny that I paid.Although, I think Hayashi text is great, maybe it is geared toward time series econometricians.For example, Wooldridge's example of omitted variable bias is clearer to me (using wage-education regression from labor economics and compute the asymptotic inconsistency of OLS estimator with omitted variable bias), compared to Hayashi's simultaneity bias.Both are nice illustration of endogenity, but I prefer Woolridge's text. ... The only Performance Dashboard book you will ever need.
I found this book through an excellent dashboard [..]. This book proved to be invaluable to my creation of our company's dashboard. I had never created a dashboard before and was able to because of the easy to understand lay out of the book. This book covers different types of dashboards, how to get your data and of couse the creation of a dashboard.This is a great book for the begginer or the seasoned veteran. Don't buy from college books direct
After ordering, I received a refund the next day.What is up with that?

Dishonesty
This product was purposely advertised under edition 11 while it is in actuality a 7th edition.Not only that, it is not even cost accounting but Financial accounting.To make matters worst the seller was not helpful at all and blamed everything on Amazon.I am doing my second masters and therefore not new to Amazon; so blaming such an institution is no justification for an inherent dishonesty.There was no CD package as well and therefore the only thing that matched to the discreption was the authors.Proof of this persons dishonesty is that on Amazon you can buy the same book he sold me at $2 while he sold (cheated) the book to me for $20 something.I strongly advise no one to buy from this person. If there was any lower rating than 1 I would definetly have given him that as rating "1" is too high of a scale for this persona.

The other review on this date (wentraub) is not a book review but some random thoughts on investing. The Dynamic Asset Level Investing model is not even in the book but a paid service from Dorsey's website!!!!

Technical analysts are becoming an endangered species on Wall Street. Major firms have long favored a fundamental approach emphasizing a nuts and bolts approach to company revenues, use of capital, and innovation. Scores of fundamental analysts closely follow individual sectors of the economy, scour SEC filings, and comment on daily developments pertaining to individual companies. Meanwhile a smaller cadre of 'technicians' churn out charts, graphs, and statistics that follow the ebb and flow of investor capital. Recently two well known full service brokerage firms decimated their already small contingent of technical analysts and another firm let go their star technician.

The book is too wordy - in fact the same information is more concisely presented and available for free at DWA website. To follow the method described you need to become a paying member of DWA. A free 2 week trail is also available at the site. This allows you to findout that to really understand and apply this method you need to take several of the $150 classes that DWA also provides. Also, the online service is really geared towards stock brokers (investment advisors).

William O'neal covers all major stock trading areas in this book: how to find a broker, his CAN SLIM method for making money on stocks, When to sell,how to diversify, when to buy options, he shows charts of the biggest stock winners from 1953 to 1993, how to read stock price history charts and much more. It is a lot of information to take in and is not for beginners. I would advise reading "The neatest little guide to the stock market" before reading this book if you are just starting out in the land of individual stocks.

Very good resource
I'm CEO of a medium size business and wanted a resource to teach me accounting. This is a great book, with plenty of assignments which fully reinforce the lessons. The only disappointment is that there are no solutions and the publisher only gives them to you if you are a registered teacher.

While taking accounting at the other New York business school, I deep sixed my assigned accounting book and instead borrowed my wife's. Buy this book if you are not a moron
This is easily the best textbook I've ever read. It deftly explains extremely complicated financial theory in plain english. If other reviewers found it hard, it's because finance is hard--really hard. This book, however, is written to make it as simple as possible.

Must Have for Business School Students
This is the main text used in most of the top undergraduate business programs in the US.Now in its 7th edition, Brealey and Myers still do a good job updating their already thick book to include new and relevant topics.I have read the 5th and 6th editions too, and they were fine books.The books are written for a general audience, and requires only a basic background in accounting.The rest of the material is pretty self-contained, but the treatment of some topics is quite shallow.I like the capital budgeting part of this book, as it provides a very good discussion on the subject matter.

Poorly written book - will not recommend
This book is very difficult to understand even with a basic background in finance and economics.There is no structure, no clear definitions or definitions at all.
