Sarbanes-Oxley and the New Internal Auditing Rules
This book provides a comprehensive overall view on Sarbanes Oxley and other evolving internal audit standards and practices. Moeller has taken an extended view on the roles of internal auditor to include that of quality auditors for ASQ and ISO.
Disappointing!
Despite Mr. Moeller's "brand-name appeal", I must confess I found this book disappointing. The title promises too much perhaps; how can mere 300 pages cover the matter for a practitioner? Written in an informal style, it paints on a broad canvas -- the kind of material that would do well for an after dinner-talk for auditors, but most definitely lacks depth and specificity. It could be useful for students or business managers, but is unlikely to help a professional auditor much.
Comprehensive and clear
This book is essential reading for anyone involved in internal audits per Sarbanes-Oxley, including auditing professionals and senior management whose business or technical domains are affected (i.e., all senior managers). Read more

Invaluable Resource for Internal Audit Administrators
A very well organized and highly useful publication for audit executives responsible for administrtion of internal audit departments.It is especially beneficial and relevant to organziations with newly established internal audit functions.As the chief auditor of a newly formed group at a major footwear and apparel company, I have relied on this book almost daily to provide knowledge, guidance and direction. Poorly Presented
This book is poorly written.There does not appear to be any presentational logic used.The same topic will be brushed upon on one page, dealt with in a more in depth fashion on another, and then brought up again later.Important points are often difficult to ascertain, obscured as they often are by more irrelevant text.ALso, different modes of presentation, such as list fashion displays of audit techniques, or other means such as various,"blue" sections, makes it difficult to study this text in a systematic manner.Then there are the review questions, which professors love to assign as weekly homework.THey are often made up of 10 part answers.A little thought about how students actually learn, rather than using a convenient presentational method based on how lazy tenured professors like to teach (or write) could make this book more useful.As it is, most of my knowledge of these topics will be gained through CPA exam reviews.SInce CPA reviews depend on the preferences of people who actually use them, I do not doubt they will be much better.PS:down with tenure.

Very difficult to follow for first-time auditing students
This book is very confusing for beginning auditing students. This is my first auditing course and I'm having a difficult time completing the homework because I don't understand what is being asked of me. If I had previous auditing experience it might make a little more sense, but it seems like the author is repeating a lot of stuff over and over in the first few chapters without really explaining what you're supposed to be doing. It all seems very abstract, which makes it difficult to apply what you're learning to the homework. If you're looking for an indtroductory book to auditing, I would not recommend this one.

5e might be different from past editions-reviews from others
This review is based on the 5th edition. I have used this book for ongoing reference in doing Sarbanes Oxley compliance projects. I have found it to be very solid, and includes coverage that is very much attuned to the environment we are under today in terms of complying with SOX. Highly recommended. ... Read more

Important work on a very timely subject
This book is a must-read for anybody involved in financial reporting, including investors who are putting their savings at risk. It breaks down financial statement fraud, how it occurs, and how it can and should be prevented or detected in the corporate hierarchy (auditor's role, audit committee's role, management's role, etc.)It is extremeley relevant, especially in light of the Enron situation, well organized, and comprehensive. Process Improvement - simplified
Work Simplification made simpler, process improvement achieved - what more could you want?And Ben's book provides the details for getting started and soon accomplishing your goals. An easy read - with everything to gain at a low cost, basically no cost -just your time (which isn't asking much, it's a fast read). The logic is simple, illustrations outstanding, and excellent coverage of an important yet downplayed topic.Now that BPM is among us - do yourself a favor and get immersed in the Graham Methodology and toolset - better than shelling out 6 figures for another product that is going to double in cost by the time your're serious about implementation.

Successful Flowcharting
The Graham family have been involved in work-flow and work-simplification for 3 generations. This book brings together the work of Ben, his father and his grandfather, in an easy to follow text that explains both their approach to flowcharting and why it has been so successful.

The Bible for Environmental Financial Reporting
Before I read Greg Rogers book, I thought accountants were mere number crunchers and that the lion's share of the crunching would eventually be performed by a sophisticated software package-- or at least people in India.The happy truth (for accountants, anyway,) is that accounting is an inherentlySUBJECTIVE (and, therefore, not highly-outsourcable discipline.)A less happy (and somewhat scary) truth is that I actually found Rogers' treatment of accounting fascinating. Yes, it may be that I need to get a life, but this book is a must-read for anyone who wants to excel in the environmental industry.
Must Buy for Environmental Lawyers
I have been an environmental lawyer for over 20 years and say without hestitation that this is the best single volume book on SEC and Environmental Disclosure that I have ever read. Other books explain how accounting principles operate but Greg Rogers not only easily dissects these complex concepts in a way that is easily understandable to lawyers without any financial or accounting background but also illustrates their application to environmental issues. You will feel like an expert after reading this book.

CSULA student taking his auditing class
I am currently taking an auditing class (ACCT 424B) with Dr. Hayes (the main author) as the professor. The nature of this book is international, yet it is completely relevant to American standards, including recent developments such as Sarbannes-Oxley. The exercises are very helpful in making you think about the concepts presented. Examples of CPA exam questions are interspersed throughout the book. Illustrations (including sample documents) are clear and understandable. The accompanying web site also includes multiple choice questions for each chapter. Given that this is not published in the U.S., it is a good value, considering what I've paid for other accounting textbooks. As for Dr. Hayes, he's a good teacher who keeps us up to date. ... A Fascinating man...
I watched Martin Scorsese's "The Aviator" and was immediately interested in learning about the "real" Howard Hughes.This book more than satisfied my curiosity.I wasn't aware of the non-aviation contributions made by Hughes; satellites, seek and destroy missles.All very important to our national security.I had never heard of Hughes' connection to the Watergate scandal until I read this book.
Interesting & Entertaining
I first read this book to see what Howard Hughes was all about.I was not disappointed in the writing or information.It was well written and a page turner.
One of the most best books I have ever read...
I first picked up a copy of this book a few years ago. Since then, I have found it hard to put down. Broeske and Brown make an excellent pair of writers and their descriptions and depictions seem to flow off the page and into life once again. Though Howard Hughes first made his mark on history and then died long before I was born, I feel almost as if I am a bystander for each of his accomplishments simply by reading this book.

A readable yet disconcerting account that tries to enlighten but leaves many questions murky
This volume sets a lofty goal of being a definative work about the failures of Walt Disney Corperation, but in spite of heart-felt emotive writing, the account left, at least this reader with little more clarification of disney practices than I had before reading it.
Interesting
This book, so far, is an interesting book. Although I haven't finished it yet, I find the information useful. The employee viewpoints and facts will make my next visit to Disney World a more cautious one.

Re-reading 7 years later
I actually read this book when it first came out (1998?), and remember being very shocked at everything I had read.I also remember wanting to read it again over the years.Reading it again after some years have gone by and not being so naive and impressionable sure makes me view some of it a little differently.
