This book, one claimed by the publisher to fall into the need-to-read category rather than the nice-to-read, is aimed at giving the businessman the information he needs to know to be able to hold an intelligent conversation with a venture capitalist.
Great Book - But Even Better is Author DVD Called Negotiating Term Sheets & Valuations in VC Deals
This author definitely knows his stuff - but even better is author's new product called Negotiating Term Sheets and Valuations in Venture Capital Deals (ISBN 1597010987).It is a 100 minute DVD that has a lot of different material in it that is critical for doing venture capital deals.It also covers specific negotiation strategies and roles and motivations for each key deal participant - which is not covered in this book or the authors other book (Term Sheets & Valuations).

Very Disappointed
After enjoying his first book, Term Sheets and Valuations, I was looking forward to this one.I regret to say that I found it a big waste of time and a bigger waste of money.

Just what I needed
If you are taking Accounting 1 and 2 only buy this book. Both books are in this one. No one told me to buy this book instead of the Acct. 1 book. So I bought 2 different books which was more money. I had just went by the ISBN # on Accounting 1.

Almost everything I dislike in a textbook
This book has many characteristics that I really dislike to see in a textbook.
One of the better books available
This publication provides a thorough and comprehensive review of almost every important aspect of accounting, financial analytics and reporting. A useful tool for a person new to finance or someone needing a refresh or review of important topics. A solutions manual would have been helpful, but the book is a valuable buy nonetheless.

Very good for understanding the subject
The book provides very clear explanations about different aspects of financial statement analysis. The only drawbacks are that the book is a little simplistic and that problem solutions are sorely needed. However, I am sure you are not going to use oit for self-study- you would be using it as a textbook in a financial statement analysis class. The professor, would be able to provide you with solutions (as in my case- thanks Dr. Church!) and will also help you out with some of the tougher stuff. Don't rely on this book for an online course
This book is filled with information but is not easy to follow. The ethical questions do not provide answers which leave you wondering if your own conclusions are accurate. The format tries to cover too much information without going in debth about anything.I used this book for an online accounting class and it was of very little help to me.This truly was one of the worst text books I've ever used.

Very good coverage on cross-sectional, but not enough of panel data
This book does an excellent job in covering cross-sectional and microeconometric models (Stata codes for all examples in the book are available from UCLA's webside). However, the exposure to panel data is limited. For a theoretical overview of panel data econometrics, I'd recommend Hsiao and Baltagi. For applied work, Edward Frees wrote a good book, although his book is more from the social science perspective (SAS and Stata codes are provided).

The best? Not for me (and everyone I know).
Clearly this product is overrated. In my opinion the book is a complete mess, with definitions, propositions and theorems mixed with the main text and not clearly evidenced from it.
A Gem
Wooldridge's "Econometric Analysis of Cross Section and Panel Data" is a gem.As a student of applied microeconomics, I found reading his undergraduate book "Introductory Econometrics" is a great complement of reading this graduate text -- especially part I of the UG book (especially the parts of interaction terms, dummy variables); part III (panel data) might be too chatty.I think both of his books worth every penny that I paid.Although, I think Hayashi text is great, maybe it is geared toward time series econometricians.For example, Wooldridge's example of omitted variable bias is clearer to me (using wage-education regression from labor economics and compute the asymptotic inconsistency of OLS estimator with omitted variable bias), compared to Hayashi's simultaneity bias.Both are nice illustration of endogenity, but I prefer Woolridge's text. ... Good for MBA class
Overall I liked the book. But there are some goofy computer graphics and sideline stories that take up room and distract the reader. The definitions need to be in the side margins. The book is written well with a lot of examples. It was very expensive and has a lot of color through out it and the cover. I used the optional software PT3 that allows the students to do the homework online. It is good for the students-but there are some formatting errors and the hints are useless. I got an A in the class so I am not complaining. I would reccomend it for upper level students only. ... Read more

The only Performance Dashboard book you will ever need.
I found this book through an excellent dashboard [..]. This book proved to be invaluable to my creation of our company's dashboard. I had never created a dashboard before and was able to because of the easy to understand lay out of the book. This book covers different types of dashboards, how to get your data and of couse the creation of a dashboard.This is a great book for the begginer or the seasoned veteran. I would reccomend this book to anyone who wants to create and implement a dashboard.

Good Enough for American Investors, Lack International Perspectives
Tobias writes a bible in personal financial investment without the lack of humor and personal touch. He is clear on investing principles he preaches, states his opinions precisely and still provide overviews of investments he believes are pure baloney.
Not rich but comfortable
This is the only investment book I can get my husband to read.I gave copies of the 1987 edition to my sons when they graduated from college and I am giving them the 2005 edition as they approach 40.Tobias has been consistent with his advice over the years.He does not promise to make you rich but he gives guidelines for ending up with a comfortable retirement; partly by getting one to acknowledge what one does not know.

Don't buy from college books direct
After ordering, I received a refund the next day.What is up with that?

Dishonesty
This product was purposely advertised under edition 11 while it is in actuality a 7th edition.Not only that, it is not even cost accounting but Financial accounting.To make matters worst the seller was not helpful at all and blamed everything on Amazon.I am doing my second masters and therefore not new to Amazon; so blaming such an institution is no justification for an inherent dishonesty.There was no CD package as well and therefore the only thing that matched to the discreption was the authors.Proof of this persons dishonesty is that on Amazon you can buy the same book he sold me at $2 while he sold (cheated) the book to me for $20 something.I strongly advise no one to buy from this person. If there was any lower rating than 1 I would definetly have given him that as rating "1" is too high of a scale for this persona.
