Excellent book
The writing may not be perfect, but it's still a great textbook, probably the best you can find.
Poorly written
This is a poorly written textbook; rambling and fragmented information is presented on a piecemeal basis rather than in a clear, concise and well-organized manner.Important information belonging to one subject-matter chapter, is often presented as "aside" information in other chapters on wholly different subjects.This textbook appears to have been written by an author who forgot to take his ADHD medication.This "substandard" quality has become common place with this particular publishing company, Prentice Hall, to include its many subsidiaries (Pearson, Thompson, Southwestern, etc.), to the detriment of the education system.

Guy does not ship it at all!!
This guy sucks..
Concise and Easy to Understand
This book is required for MBA Managerial Accounting, and is also used in undergraduate classes. The topic chapters are well organized and use good examples to explain. This is one of the predominate and most popular books to teach this subject. It does go into detail about T accounts more than is required for my class, although the depth is not too esoteric. With that, I close in stating that the international edition is the same and is much cheaper. Even though stores won't by back Intl Editions, you can save more (and on the front end) than will be refunded at buyback at the end of semester.

Great text book
Overall, this is actually a very well organized and highlighted textbook, the pages are easy to read and the charts and examples are very straightforward. Emphasis is placed in the right places. The bad thing is that the textbook does not supply answers to any of the exercises or problems which really doesn't help, but hopefully your teacher will compensate for that. I still think it's a little verbose and repetitive in the text at times, but otherwise, the chapters deliver good understanding and are very clear. I highly recommend this edition. ... Read more

Buffett, the Bard of Omaha, is a genuine American folk hero, if folk heroes are allowed to build fortunes worth upward of $15 billion. He's great at homespun metaphor, but behind those catchy phrases is a reservoir of financial acumen that's generally considered the best of his generation. For example, in an essay on CEO stock options, he writes, "Negotiating with one's self seldom produces a barroom brawl." This is his way of saying that an executive who can give himself compensation totally disproportionate to his performance surely will. There are uncountable gems of financial wisdom to be harvested from these essays, taken from the annual reports he writes for Berkshire Hathaway, his holding company. Just to pick one more, here's a now-famous line about those he competes with when making stock-market investments: "What could be more advantageous in an intellectual contest--whether it be chess, bridge, or stock selection--than to have opponents who have been taught that thinking is a waste of energy?"Read more

Right to the Point

They call him Warren Buffett for a reason
This excellent book was hard to put down.Mr. Buffett is as innately talented a writer as he is a businessman.The bookfunny, entertaining and highly informative, is sure to add significantly to the knowledge of any aspiring investor.Buffett takes topics like corporate accounting malfeasance and makes you laugh at them while at the same time providing profound insight into the inner workings of the corporate enviornment.This title is definatly one you will want to own.

The rich are different from the rest of us, if for no other reason than U.S. tax and securities laws allow them to invest in ways that keep us from catching up to them. That's why 90 percent of all corporate shares of stock are owned by 10 percent of the people. Kiyosaki believes it's possible for anyone to move up into that 10 percent, but it takes a different view of investing than most people have: it takes a plan to be a successful investor. And a plan is more than simply buying and selling, or collecting "assets" that bring in no cash and are thus more akin to liabilities. The way most people invest, "they might as well be pushing a wheelbarrow in a circle," he writes. A plan is "mechanical, automatic, and boring," a formula for success that has worked historically for most of those who've used it. Kiyosaki - Does it Again!
Kiyosaki's third book in his Rich Dad, Poor Dad series delivers again.This book is a logical progression of RDPD and CFQ building on his principals of building wealth for the first half of the book.Afterwards, Kiyosaki unveals what the reader has been waiting for . . . just how the rich invest.He disclaims the book plainly for the reader looking for the next hot stock tip or get rich quick scheme.The book delivers on it's title from a principal information standpoint, which should suit readers that realize that wealth is built up over time and based upon timeless principals and a strong foundation.The last two phases of the book are extremely well-written.Kiyosaki covers financial ratios, IPO offerings, taking companies public, and of course real estate principals.He presents his information to get you thinking not to give you answers for he knows the answers will come if the action is initiated.Another aspect of Kiyosaki that I particularly like is that he discusses his failures, which should let the masses know that riches are often found after many failures (more often it is the norm).So if you want easy answers - don't buy this book.If you want principals, ingredients for success in building wealth, and systematic structure on what you should be thinking in acquiring and KEEPING your wealth - this is your book!

One of my most picked up books!
I have read this book and keep this as a reference when referring to my questions on money and finance. This book is a definite read and its definitly the type of books that you read several times for reasons of referring back to the ideals of money. Another book I reccommend is THINK LIKE A BILLIONAIRE by Scot Anderson.

As good as "financial accounting" is ever gonna get.
This good is very helpful, both graphically and technically.I does a great job of explaining everything in plain english and reenforcing those lesson with real world experience.The one complain i have is that there is no answer key so that I can verify my answer (after all, one slip up can effect every following financial document).

Yawning Hell
Is this the world's most boring book ?Technically competent but painfully dry. A gift too insomniacs. Good luck on getting past page 1 !

Only Buy if Required for a Class
Very boring reading.Chapters tend to repeat themselves.The class I had for this book was one of the most boring classes I ever had.Instructor lectured from power point slides.I could have taken this class homestudy and done just fine, than to sit in class.

Caution: Will Cause Drowsiness.
This book is simply horrible. It takes the stereotypical accountant and shoves him into the pages. It is so lethargic and monotonous that all the valuable information within the book just stops making sense. This book should be read by anyone who has doubts about becoming an accountant. How Do I Write a Review about an Insurance Book?
Well, I guess I can try to review this book from the only perspective I read it from: that of a student.I had to read it for my CFP class on Insurance, and, as an introduction to most forms of insurance, it explains the forms in a very methodical and systematic way; it was very easy to follow and tough to get completely lost.Read more

Introdution to management accouting
Very good. Cover is a little worn. Some pages have been written by pencil.

Used in MBA program - Intro to Accounting
I have had experience with accounting and found this book to be fairly basic.However, if you are a beginner with no knowledge of accounting, this is a good textbook.I read one of the other reviews about how there is a bunch of useless junk on each page and while this is partially true, it would be UNBEARABLE to read if there wasn't this so called "junk" on every page.Overall a good textbook that I will keep around as a reference for accounting basics.

This book WAS NOT better the second time around
Very hard to read and understand. Each chapter has Learning Objectives and those LO's are referenced for the questions at the end. The problem is: inside the chapter there is no way to find out what the LO's are!!! Me and a friend tried to figure it out but it was almost impossible. A lot of the chapter questions were very difficult. Several spelling errors that a sixth grader could have found. I had a Managerial Accounting class twice, once as a prerequisite for my graduate degree and I am taking it now for my MBA. Imagine my horror when I discovered that I was using this same book twice. I hope you never get stuck with this turkey of a book.

Fast and nite service
Eventough I didnt receive the "password" or information (piece of paper with pass and info.) to access the online resources for this book, the shipp was fast and the book was in excellente conditions.
Great Accounting Textbook!
I have enjoyed using this textbook because it explains all the accounting terminology in real simple terms. It is geared toward the non accountant professional who needs a basic understanding of how to read the financial statements reported by companies. The textbook also comes with a website with tools that could be used in addition to the exercises provided at the end of each chapter. No all the links on the website are free but the ones that are, are really helpful.

Avoid this book at all costs
Fortunately I only paid a few pound for this book at a book fair. I have been successfully day trading for over 5 years, have read in excess of 60 books. This is the worst I have seen. Oliver Velez should be taking out the backyard and horse whipped.

If you want to buy the book, go ahead, just be careful of superbookdeals, they take your money but don't deliver and don't answer emails. Caveat Emptor.

Total Rip-off
The book is good, but $130 dollars!!!!You still need to buy a 3 ring binder to put the sheets in, it's not even a paperback, meaning the publisher didn't even spend the money for binding. Who owns this company, Shell?Exxon?Enron?!?There are other accounting books for a fraction of the cost, but the organized crime (my community college) requires this particular one.I wonder what their incentive might be???

Beginners manual
If you are new to accounting then this book should definitely be on your list.Explaining step by step how to record basic journal entries and how these entries relate to the various financial statements (Income Statement, Cash-Flows...), in a clear and well organized fashion.The only reason I am unwilling to rate this book five stars is due to the price; as most people will be using this book as an introduction to financial accounting it does seem a little expensive.It is also worth noting the problems and examples used throughout the book are of excellent quality, especially the financial statements provided in appendix A and B.If you have previous experience within the accounting field I would probably recommend a book at a higher level but beginners could do no better. ...
